I was recently taken to the Eden Project in Cornwall by an able bodied friend.
Personally I can walk for a few yards, but need to use a disability scooter most of the time. We rang ahead, and they have scooters for use once you are inside the centre, but there is a road train from the carpark to the main reception area, and there are disabled parking spaces right next to the road train. So I just had to walk a few paces to the train, which wouldn't have been necessary if I had my own scooter with me, they do fit on the train. Once I came out of the centre they even brought me by car back to our hire car in the carpark. I have never seen service like this anywhere, and could not recommend them highly enough. On the way back from there, we called in at the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, the place started by Sir Peter Scott, and they had scooters there too. We should all tell of places which truly are ready for persons with disability.
Hi Jimbo,
We went the eden project as well both the wife and i are disabled and we too were looek after very well.We are what you could walking disabled so it was not a great problem. But after walking a good way we had to stop and return to the car then we were told that if we had taken our disabled badge to the reception we too could have had a scooter. But being able to walk we thought we would walk as far as we could and then go back another time and see the rest.
IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO GO AND WELL WORTH SEEING.
