Title: Website Problems

garethbraid - January 29, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Hi, not sure if this is the appropriate place for my first post, but while browsing the website I have been unable to access the gallery of photos, was looking forward to looking through the different shots. Another thing I would like to point out is the scrolling message that is speeding across the page, I am struggling to read it (from a Website Accessibility point of view could this be made static).

On more positive notes I hope I will find this site and discussion board very useful, I have just started to become interested in photography and hope to use this site to pick up new tips.

Cheers
Gareth

Hi garethbraid

This forum and the website are new additions to the DPS. The website has only been live for a few days and is still in the process of being fully built and finished. It is a replacement for the old website and server which have now been discontinued. The old address automatically redirects you to the new website, so please make sure you all bookmark the new web address.

The gallery is being worked on by Grover at the moment, and will be live in the very near future. The gallery is also being hosted on a seperate domain to the website, as is this forum. This will give us a back up facility that we can use in case of emergencies, should the worst happen.

I do not want to say too much about the gallery, just in case it will not work as Grover wants it to, sufficient to say its nothing like the old DPS website gallery. In the meantime there are some images to look at in the members images section here.

The scrolling message on the top of this forum should just scroll from right to left once and then remain static, on the left hand side of the page, and should therefore be readable. This has been done to draw attention to the messages. It should do this once every time you either refresh the page or open a new one.

The HTML code used for the message behaviour is very simple and the scrolling should not repeat until the page is changed. If this is not how it behaves on your computer I would be grateful if you can let me know which browser and operating system you are using, so that I can investigate the problem further. I can be contacted via the personal messenger under the My Controls link near to the top right of the page.

There will also soon be some good news for DPS members about a place to display images, if they want to. Details will be in the next issue of the DPS magazine In Focus.

We now have a test version of the Gallery up and running, more tinkering to be done to it yet though.
