Taken with a 300mm lens at F5.6. Note the very sharp, nose and eyes with blur on the rest of the picture.
Because of the wide open Iris on the lens, the shutter speed was very fast 1/500 sec to allow for movement of the subject.
To be used in low light, or to highlight the subject/ blur the background

A great tip for producing some great portrait effects.

I do it by selecting aperture priority on my camera and using the smallest F number available, and then the fastest shutter speed for correct exposure, both depend on the lens and the amount of any zoom you use.

The Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 is a great lens for this effect but you have to use your legs/wheels as a zoom as its a prime lens. It wont break the bank either.
