Title: Ideas
Description: Put your ideas for roleplay here!
Glorfindel - November 2, 2004 02:23 AM (GMT)
Several people have been interested in starting roleplays that relate to Tolkien at Tol Eressea. Thats great. However, if you can place a short description of the setting of the "stage" for the roleplay and what characters you think will be good in it, it would be helpful. Also allow for others to ask you questions about your idea.
Herwen (IR) - November 2, 2004 03:59 AM (GMT)
I have an idea to have a ball for all middle earthlings. I would like to hold it. If anyone would be interested in something like that I would like to know. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. More about my idea. The setting would be a big ball room with a briliant chandeleir in the middle of the ceiling. Dinner would also be served. It could be a chance for all middle earthlings to meet and talk. I hope you will like this idea and again if anyone wants more info I'll be happy to give it. :)
Eomana - November 2, 2004 04:31 AM (GMT)
:) I think your idea of having a ball is a really good one
Eldirn - November 2, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
Thought of an idea, if anyone's particularly interested. It can involve as many people as we want it to, but basically it's a backstory involving Eldirn and Elrond. It's the story of how she got captured by orcs and tortured, and Elrond had to lead a war party from Rivendell to rescue her. I already have the basic plotline, and it's in my character's history if you're curious, but the details would be pretty much up to the players.
Any opinions?
Eldirn - November 4, 2004 07:08 PM (GMT)
Further thought on same.
Let's broaden it out. Start it with Celebrian's capture (if she can get her comp working), and tie it all together with an intrigue of Sauron's. He is trying to obtain intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the Three, and so he is having Elves in the vicinity of Eregion kidnapped and tortured in order to attempt to extract information...
Perhaps he even suspects the existence of Imladris, and is trying to pinpoint its location.
So first Celeb is captured, and the Twins rescue her. Elrond tries to heal her, and is only partially successful. So Celeb leaves (or maybe is preparing to leave) and very shortly thereafter Eldirn gets captured. Only she's closer in, and so Elrond and Co. rescue her before the yrch get going good.
But that then leaves a concern, that the forces of Mordor are slowly zeroing in on Imladris. So Elrond and his advisors have to take action. But they have to decide WHAT action.
Etc. etc. etc.
Anubauglir - November 11, 2004 08:34 PM (GMT)
Sounds good to me :D And perhaps Andaer as one of the soldiers under Elrond can assist in the rescue. I would love to be a part of it!

Glorfindel - November 12, 2004 03:38 PM (GMT)
There is no reason why either of these roleplays should not take place but there is one concern on the great ball that Herwen mentions. There is a shortage of male Elves or men for a ball to take place. In Tolkien's stories there was no shortage of males, in fact it seemed there were very few females in comparison. Maybe some recruitment of new members would be helpful before this roleplay is started. As one of very few males here I personally am not interested in getting involved in a dance when I can go kill enemy yrch. I think this will also be the interests of other males. A suggestion to help alieviate this problem is to have the ladies create their own partners or play males themselves. Since I am now registered as three separate characters I know you can also register as another.
In the earlier third age roleplay suggested by Eldirn, I would like to be involved but I need to end some of the other roleplays I'm in first. Being three characters, two of them very active, is tough and takes a lot of my time. When I join a roleplay I want to take an active part in it and not hold anyone up because I am unable to keep up. I hope others feel the same way.
Eldirn - November 12, 2004 03:41 PM (GMT)
I don't have a problem with that, Glor. I know you stay really busy with all of this. If it turns out to be too much, that's okay too.
Perhaps it is getting time for the food-fight party to start winding down, although I hate to; it has been WAAAAY too much fun. :D
Celebrķan - November 13, 2004 10:28 PM (GMT)
Great idea Eldirn although... -looks at her fan fiction of Celebrķan's torment, which she just started and is already up to 4 pages- errrrr I am affarid that it will be long posts, no happy events and I am affarid I will bore people, as I seem to have that ability ;) .
lol well if you DO start a ball... I WON'T be part of that hehe, I need to keep my mind on track and sometimes don't have enough energy to post, and then there is this idiotic time difference (I wouldn't mind if my days would be dark :P ), but well I love Eldirns idea, eventhough I have to finish my fan-fic too (will help me to keep up my posting).
For further information, IF I do not post for a while, and everyone gets tired of it, just throw me off, and take over my character, honestly I would understand that!!! I might not like it, but I WILL understand it
(Okay I am jabbering too much, will stop...... NOW)
Eldirn - November 14, 2004 03:01 AM (GMT)
*I* think your posts are GOOD, I just wish you hadn't been having comp probs, so I could see more of 'em!
Anubauglir - November 16, 2004 07:05 PM (GMT)
Vedui everyone. I first of all want to appologise for my slow responses in posting. Secondly I wish to inform you as to why I may not be at it much still. I now have a job and it may take away time that I can get on the Net. Of course you know of my own Discussion Board that I recently started. I've been putting alot of time into setting it up. But I do wish to continue posting here and joining you all at the ME Palace. :D Send me a PM if my posting is needed either here or at my own Board or even through my e-mail. My e-mail is tomcat_az_1@yahoo.com and my discussion board addy is:

Anu
Glorfindel - November 16, 2004 07:12 PM (GMT)
I'm glad you have a job Anu. If you think you cannot post I can erase your character but it would be a good thing if you posted once a day. Right now we await your return in Amulet Inn with a message as to what you found out in your scouting of the direction everyone needs to go to start out searching for Glorfindel.
Read the last two pages of posts and you will see we have many more guards now and also see that you have been sent to scout.
Anubauglir - November 17, 2004 04:47 AM (GMT)
I appreciate that and will try my best to keep up. :D I hope that soon they finish and open the new library that is going in right across the street from my job. That way I can go there and log in even if my brother is off work and so I cannot log on at home. Until then, the County Library that is 8 or 9 miles away will be where I will try to go to as often as I can so I can keep up. :D Please don't remove my character or me from the RPG just yet.
Anu
Eldirn - December 22, 2004 05:49 PM (GMT)
Okay, I'm gonna make a post in here just to bring this back onto the front page, as it were. Maybe gonna pin it while I'm at it...
Pip - January 13, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
I was just thinking, we could do a role play with some of the characters of Tolkien but when they were kids! You know I always wondered what Elrond was like when he was a midgit... and I wondered about gandalf too... okay maybe it won't be totally based on Tolkien (gandalf is a bit younger than Elrond if I recall) but we could have fun with it. What do you think?
Eldirn - January 14, 2005 01:53 AM (GMT)
I like the idea. :D
But Gandalf is actually much much older than Elrond. He is a Maia, hence he was present probably at the very creation, as the rest of the Maiar, possibly assisting the Valar. He's been in Middle-earth less time, yes, but is much older.
Pip - January 14, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
shows how much I know  I was asmuming since he wasn't at that one battle he wasn't around yet.... just goes to show you can't assume...
Erestor - January 15, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
Vedui all.
Don't have a roleplay idea actually I have a new topic I'd like to propose. Since I seem to be gushing with ideas about all these little weird and arcane objects. I'd like to propose my own little thread were I describe them and their backrounds in detail. So they can be used in future RP's, discussed, suggestions made, or the new ones made by you or me can be added. Does that sound okay? Any suggestions?
Thanks, The MacGuyver of Middle Earth,
Erestor :D
Glorfindel - January 17, 2005 07:48 AM (GMT)
That sounds like a good idea Erestor, I like it! I want to see what you have hidden in that museum you call a study and hear the stories of how you got them. Just make sure they would be within Tolkien's written boundaries as to their purposes and magics.
The ones that are not up to Tolkiens standards you can sell on ebay. :P
Glor
Meganiel - January 17, 2005 05:12 PM (GMT)
Yeah I can see the ad on Ebay now:
Elven magic item, slightly used, low miledge, protected by Balrog, seller takes no responsabilty for consequences of sale. :D
Meganiel/Erestor
Eldirn - January 17, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
Why don't we try a special thread for that in the character descriptions forum? That way it would reach across all of the roleplays...
I can move it elsewhere if we decide that doesn't work.
Erestor - January 17, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
Sounds good to me! Do you want me to create the topic or do you or glor want to do it, Dont matter to me. BTW Meganiel's post is up in the search, hehehe B)
Eldirn - January 17, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
You're the "owner," go ahead and create it. ;)
Erestor - January 17, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
Erestor's study is up and running. :D
Erestor - January 18, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
Feel free to add items to it and comments to Erestor's Study. Glor has already made comments, Ill call my dragon skull anything I want to! :P

Erestor - January 18, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)

Erestor - January 18, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
Geez ok I'll see what I can do!!!
Erestor - January 20, 2005 12:48 PM (GMT)
Okay ya'll know I have listened to Celebrian time and again whine about getting her a dragon.
Well with much early am thought and with evil chuckling and debate Ive decided to give her one.
Before you Cele start jumping up and down thinking, I'm going to give you my dragon skull. I'm not. I'm also not going to give you a Dragon egg that will grow into a 700' long monster that probably poor Glor and I are going to have to try to kill or negotiate with before it eats Imladris and four or five villages.
I have decided to give you Celebrian a Fairy Dragon and you would probably know about them for there is only one place that they come from Lothlorien.
Your mother Cele the Lady Galadriel knows all too well your seemingly endless capacity for getting yourself into trouble. So she sends Celen the Fairy Dragons Queen to contact Erestor who is fascinated by the darling and ooh too cute creature.
Needless to say things will probably go downhill after that especially after Celebrian finds out where Celen came from, and blames poor hapless Erestor who knows nothing of Galadriel's plan.
So what y'all think, and Cele be careful what you wish for especially around me. ;)
The ever devious,
Erestor
P.S. Now where to put Erestor to meet Celen, suggestions?
P. P. S. I just had another thought of were Celen came from Valinor. Only the Valar know what creatures inhabit the Undying Lands.
P. P. P. S. I dont have a character in the Amulet Inn how about there? Celebrian possibly could have an existing relationship with the darling little creature since Celebrian has returned from Valinor. Celen may have followed her from there.
Scene: There was a sound of displaced air and a poof when a small purple/black creature appeared in front of the Yrch that was going to grab Celebrian.
"*Hello, Mister Orc.*" the small creature said and taking a sudden breath blew a purple cloud of mist full into the face of the Orc. The Orc's eyes crossed, he wobbled for a second and then crashed to the ground.
"*Cele!, Cele!, Cele!*" the creature cried as it flew furiously around Celebrians head.
"*Celen?, What in the name of the Valar are you doing here*"
hehehe ;)
Elrond - January 20, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
I like the idea that Celen came from Valinor, on the sly, escaped from one of the vala even. Cel made the little dragon her friend while there and after she left it tried to follow her because dragons bond with only one person. Of course they fly, so maybe it would have flown to Middle-earth, possibly following one of Manwe's eagles. Then the little dragon could have searched for her by scent or by mental attachment or whatever.
(I think that if a dragon originated in Middle-earth, it would have been influenced by Morgoth so this is why I suggest the Valinor idea as best.)
Since Amulet Inn is not taking place after Cel came back from Valinor but before she left, Celen wouldn't be appropriate there. It would be great however if it showed up at Imladris in the HOF roleplay. Cel has just been back a few days in that scenario and it would be perfect for something like this to happen.
It also would be great for the dragon personality to be mischievious and do some harmless damage, not to get anyone mad at it but to lighten the mood in that roleplay.
These are just my thoughts on the idea. What do other people think?
Eldirn - January 20, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
I love the whole concept!
I WANT ONE!!! :D
Erestor - January 20, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
Well since Celen is the Queen so there is a whole herd, gaggle flight etc, flying around Valinor somewhere. They have two unique abilities 1 Teleportation 2 Breath Weapon. Ive also already though of the idea of Celen being an Emissary or having escaped from Yavanna. And also since Fairy Dragons are very communal creatures there maybe one or two others available.
Poof "* Hello pretty Elf lady.*" to Eldirn. :D
Hof it is! "evil chuckle"
Elrond - January 20, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
I am having visions of hundreds of poofing dragons in Imladris if word of this gets out! Lets just have one or I will have to build another building to house the Humane Society of Rivendell.
Erestor - January 20, 2005 07:03 PM (GMT)
Hey Elrond we could open up a betting parlor and have Fairy Dragon races, making a killing. ;) Actually there are two can't leave Eldirn out she already asked. Besides almost getting my brain fried once a day is about all I can take. :D
Celebrķan - January 20, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)

Hehehe, I read the description of the fairy dragons already; did you get my favorite color from a conversation in Palace, Erestor, or did Glor tell you, or was it just a lucky guess?
Erestor - January 20, 2005 07:35 PM (GMT)
