Bondage Cover of the Day

What is it with the frequent, repeated images of Wonder woman bound, gagged, and in peril? Is it what I think it is, soft core bondage, or is it essential to story development, month after month after month??

Is there a pattern here, or am I imagining things, again?

Nived - October 2, 2005 06:47 PM (GMT)
Some of these covers are already on the site... others are new. I particularly like the "Wonder Woman: IN CHAINS" cover. First one I've ever seen her forced to eat of of a dog bowl.

But this is all very intentional. Her weakness is losing her strength when bound by men (yes I know it's more specific but the writeres don't). So yes WW in bondage is the norm... think about it... she has a 'magic lasso' that forces people to 'tell the truth' when bound with it... she loses her power if she's bound... those stelleto heels....

Anyway it was all intentional... you should read about the guy who created Wonder Woman sometime... he was a bit... off.

you should check that link, "bondage cover of the day". There are 100's of bondage type covers. It seemed to be a pulp fiction theme.

And the latest one was Wonder Woman #220

Cuffs!

Dead Canadian - October 2, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
Wait, is she being filmed?

The Nameless One - October 2, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
One can hope ;)

that first one is lois

and if the cover it comes from isn't on the site already it deserves to be. superman captures and ties up all his friends to join the legion of doom.

I think it is. I remember seeing it.

Isn't it odd how Manga-Vampirella is wearing a ton more clothing than Comics-Vampirella?

And still manages to be way sexier

Virgil - October 3, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
Have to disagree with you on that one.

Though the regular example of Vampirella I showed has a screwd up face for some reason.

It's happening again! Although I must say that I'm extermly jealous of that cop.

The Nameless One - October 3, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
Note the canny cop's wandering hand - no holding the suspect by the upper arm to ensure a proper firm grip for him - not when there's some Amazonian ass to "accidently" brush against repeatedly.

As a matter of fact this is beginning to become what I call "the usual predictament".

He should have had the cop pulling her ams back a bit more, to give a better view <_<

That's JG Jones, right? He's doing all of the covers for 52.

Indeed, it was intentional, at least back then. Why did they carry on the tradition? Why not? (Courtesy of the Rotten Library, which is really quite nice)

Yeah, I remember reading about how Marston was somewhat obsessed with sex and reflected his beliefs onto the comic. How bringing together the golden bracelets turns Wonder Woman into the slave of whomever does it and such.

Of course, the bondage thing gets old really quick when you think about it....it's like all that happens to her is that she gets tied up all the time. :/

Marston seemed to think that women could show the way to a better world through love and kindness, as long as they were bound and gagged, to prevent them from making any trouble ;) ! I assume it's because women can be a handful, and no one likes a handful.

Actually, he seemed to belive in bondage for both sexes. `.` I assume that was part of his philosophy...

As 'King of the Hill' would say, "No one likes a handful". That is unless it's a handful of Wonder Woman ;) ;) !

You really shouldn't have mentioned Batman. You know he is so totally into this thing too. The amazing thing is that he is doing this with a woman.

BTW - the thing that really makes this for me is Robin. He likes to watch!

But does Batman know he's watching - and if so, does that add to the thrill?

Batman isn't doing anything. It's clearly Catwoman who took the initiative, and Batman doesn't look too happy.

That tail looks really bizarre on Catwoman, by the way.

The Nameless One - October 5, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
Why does Catwoman allow a mouse in her lair?
