Title: Texas Brown Scorpion
ripper7777777 - September 1, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
Been busy lately, so I have not been around as much as I would have liked, lots of posts to read.
Anyways here is my Nylint Scorpion Crawler, I had planned on going all out with a new chassis and the full 9 yards but there is just something fun about crawling rocks and overcoming terrain with a so called Toy.
Well it's late so you will have to wait until tomorrow for outside pics....

Looks much better painted that way! Now you just need to do something about those ugly red links. I want to get a 1/18 Jeep but for some reason none of the Walmarts in Utah have received any of the 1/18 crawlers, just the 1/6.

Can you show us some comparison pics of it next to a xc?

wel, spoon, if it is any scale of size, the tires seem to be about the size (diamater) of buggy dirt hawgs, and the axles about the size of TLT axles (rough estimante)

 He sure hasn't...
I was thinking the same thing, that those tires and wheels would look awesome on an XC or the like. :)

LOL..........
Yea I painted the links red to cover up the fugly baby blue, but than I decided to paint the truck brown, the red would have been fine with the factory yellow, but it kinda jumps out with all the black and brown, anyways the flat black is drying....
I don't own an XC yet....
How about some Dims....
wheelbase is approx. 8.25, it's in pieces at the moment
tire diameter is 3.5"s, they are nice compound, not as soft as the crawlers would like but a good compound for trail trucking. You would probably need to adapt the rim to fit.
the body is 5.75 x 10.75 overall
I highly recommend these, they are a blast for 45 bucks, they don't have propo electronics but that is easy to remedy or leave them as they are. Basically it is a kit for 45 bucks. They are dual motors like a clod and have a manual high/low switch, in low they have tons of torque and crawl fairly well, personally I think they make better trail rigs than crawlers due to the limited axle clearance.
Oh and they come in a jeep model to..........

As promissed some outdoor action pics

I'm adding a dry river bed to my crawling area, this is just a small sample of the area

Up.....

and over...

Well sometimes you just get stuck on the axle.......

Pop it in Reverse and line it up for another run

I gotta say these Nylint Crawlers take the award for best backyard crawler.

wow.... I can ask questions without posting.... Damn I'm good!!!
Nice rig, are you planning to redo the whole thing or just get proper ESC's to control it as is?
those tyres are prolly a little small for the XC - I mean the BFG's are around 3.5", really it needs something a little taller, but still skinny like those nylint ones...

It's very frustrating to see all you guys south of me having so much fun with your crawlers and I can't get them at any local Canadian Walmart.
I really like the 1/18 one. Reasonably priced for the performance and fun factor. The 1/6 I think is too big and too expensive for what it is. At those prices I am too close to building my own RC's. And while parts are sort of available, there not easy to get for a lot of people.

Oh ya, how about being surrounded by people that can get them when I can't! I don't know what the deal is but every state around Utah apparently has them but Utah doesn't! (1/18 that is) I know for a fact Arizona and Colorado have them as well as Oregon and California, so why not Utah?

Actually, I think it's a very good deal, too big I agree but really a good value. You don't really need to do much modding to them and you don't need to spend any more money on them they are quite capable out of the box. We do have plenty of the 1/6 in Utah and I have played with them in the box a little. The tires are very soft and compliant. They have propo electronics as well and good artic. I have seen videos of them and I would say they do about as well as a well built TLT crawler.

anyway, nice crawler. I have the jeep/hummer thing and it has a HILARIOUS line of text on one of the roll bars, it reads (upside down): if you can read this then flip me over! and it would be realy cool to put twin Krystal 3 motors in it, sucking power through a single novak super rooster, or, twin mamba 6800 BL motors :firedevil: oh, and BTW, spoon, like my user title?
