Title: Stories Wanted!
raeoflight - January 13, 2009 03:11 AM (GMT)
Okay,
So, I have read quite a bit already, but I could always use stories to put on my list to read.
Any good stories anyone has read lately that is worth reading?
[:
inkspatters - January 13, 2009 06:04 AM (GMT)
The only thing I can think of is The Obsession With Jack by faerie-gumdrops. It's a great story. Anyway, I don't read nearly as much as I should on fp. Maybe you can recommend me some fics? :)
Val_silph - January 13, 2009 02:51 PM (GMT)
Here are my suggestions (they're all engaging, humerous, romantic, and well written!)

Hum,
well, I haven't read The Obsession with Jack.
I have looked at it over and over, and I can't seem to start it.
=[
The summary wasn't too amazing to me.
Is it really that good?
Things I really like to recommend.
If you like horror,
go check out
HatetoHope
Bleeding Air
and
hotkitty
They also have a collab account called bunnyslippers.
www.fictionpress.com/~hatetohope
www.fictionpress.com/~bleedingair
www.fictionpress.com/~hotkitty
www.fictionpress.com/~bunnyslippers
So yeah.
Story wise, for Hate to Hope and Bleeding Air, I recommend...
hatetohope:
Resistance
The Natural Born
Interrogame
bleeding air:
The Contract
The Contract II
Those are just my PERSONAL favorites.
hotkitty:
Catharsis
or
Predator
Her Ashes is pretty good too.
NOW, if you DON'T like horror, [heh] I got a little carried away.
Emery & Me
Regan, White, and the Seven Deadly Sins
All Along
One Crowded Hour
Those are just a few, I had a whole lot more, but um, I didn't wanna overwhelm anyone!
But yeah, my problem is, I've read a lot of the stories on FP, and am now running out of them.
=[
raeoflight - January 13, 2009 03:17 PM (GMT)
okay, well that UP there is technically from me...
I forgot to log in!
Oops.
Carol - January 13, 2009 05:46 PM (GMT)
POGA is amazing. Has anyone read POGA 2? I've been thinking about starting it, but I haven't found the time to do it yet.
Well for a good laugh I would recommend elisefey, Island Olivier is really good.
Also, the last story I read is called 30 Days by Em Wolf, it's an amazing take on the whole arranged marriage thing, believe me.
And directly from my favorite authors you have:
Lulai (Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and the like - and LOTS of romance!)
Dillusional (She's good. Just go read her stuff.)
Vena Cava (Amazing new author, worth checking out.)
Call me when you're rich (La Cinq and it's sequel are crazy good.)
~Carol
raeoflight - January 13, 2009 06:18 PM (GMT)
Haha.
Yeah, I interview people at SKoW.. when I interviewed Em Wolf, I read 30 Days! I loved that.
I didn't really like Island Olivier.
POGA didn't sound too good either, but I read the first few chapters.
-raeoflight [:
Carol - January 13, 2009 06:22 PM (GMT)
You didn't like POGA, seriously? How come? I admit it's been a long while since I read it, but I remember thinking it was really good.
And Island Olivier? You have to explain that x)
At least we agree on 30 Days, lol.
~Carol
raeoflight - January 13, 2009 06:27 PM (GMT)
I don't know, I just really didn't like it.
I prefer reading...
Emery & Me
or
False Facades
Carol - January 13, 2009 08:24 PM (GMT)
Sure those two are very good. I like Emery & Me too. And False Facades was probably one of the first stories I read on FP.
Still, I cannot understand what's not to love in Island Olivier :P I would have to count it as one of my favorites.
Everyone has different tastes I guess, it would be kind of boring if we all liked the same stuff x)
~Carol
chelseamuffin. - January 13, 2009 09:28 PM (GMT)
do they necessarily have to have romance in them, or just fp stories in general? because i've got a small list of both. ;)
Val_silph - January 13, 2009 10:08 PM (GMT)
I wasn't really crazy about Island Oliver either. But I know tons of people must like it, cause it's got a LOT of reviews...
raeoflight - January 13, 2009 11:04 PM (GMT)
I like both romance, and not too!
Um, yeah, Island Olivier was just...bleh, for me at least.
Has anyone read...Sapphires and Emeralds?
very good storry.
chelseamuffin. - January 13, 2009 11:09 PM (GMT)

http://www.fictionpress.com/~rikitybridgemy friend ben. i recommend
the taco shack in town. i also liked
crowly for the descriptions-- they were reaaaaaally good. :3
and, well, anything else by him is generally good. but those two are just my favourites, although i'm a bit iffy on the ending of
crowly.
http://www.fictionpress.com/~spiritualenergymy friend and online wife. she doesn't want me to share her name because she's uncomfortable with it, but she's amazing in every way. she only has two one-shots, but they're great. i personally prefer
transparency, but
doors is really good, too. :)
EDITED TO ADD: i totally prematurely hit the submit button. whoops?
http://www.fictionpress.com/~athaniaanything by her. she's my twin, only not really. we just have so many twin moments that she's become my unofficial twin. i love her to bits. <3 she's amazing and beautiful and i wish i could write like her. :)<3
THOSE are my recs. enjoy~~
raeoflight - January 13, 2009 11:14 PM (GMT)

and
hotkitty
The best horror/romance on FP, I personally think.
Aurette - January 13, 2009 11:42 PM (GMT)
I'll have to check them out. I love a good horror story, especially with romance.

tillapia - January 14, 2009 04:22 AM (GMT)
Ok, I definitely agree with Emery & Me. I loooved that one.
Other than that, I'm having trouble. I'm a lurker, and I've definitely read a billion (or less.. much less) or so stories, but I can't remember the good ones.
I do remember liking
Chemistry and
Break.
raeoflight - January 14, 2009 04:23 AM (GMT)

has anyone read
sapphires and emeralds?
tillapia - January 14, 2009 04:52 AM (GMT)

My suggestions:
And Then She Met The President's Son Hello Kitty |
I agree with Hello Kitty, I think it's good (it's been a loong while since I read it, so I'm not completely sure anymore.)
But, Then She Met the President's Son? Please no. I was never able to finish that one. I don't get what people like about that story, sorry.
Carol
raeoflight - January 15, 2009 03:47 PM (GMT)
i think i tried reading it, but i never finished it.
tillapia - January 15, 2009 06:47 PM (GMT)
Oh! I loved that one (And Then She Met The President's Son).
raeoflight - January 15, 2009 06:50 PM (GMT)
it doesn't seem good.
*shrug*
Aurette - January 15, 2009 09:45 PM (GMT)
I read And Then She Met the President's Son aaaaages ago. I can't say I remember a single thing about it.
MendyK - January 15, 2009 10:16 PM (GMT)
Oookay, since I cannot concentrate, here's a list of all the stories I've enjoyed on FP and recommend: (They're all romances by the way)
High School/CollegeAvery Susan Sanders is not an Ass - Justice Bana
Avery Sanders should have been pleased that she received a full ride to Verminton University, one of the most prestigious colleges around. All goes well until she meets Jack Shanahan. He's rich, arrogant, and his father is paying for Avery's education.
Against All Odds - Myrika
Raleigh Chase thinks guys are dogs. Her older brother's best friend Ryan Henderson claims that he can make any girl, including Raleigh, fall for him. Their bet's on for four months. Can they prove each other wrong?
Everybody Hates Logan - Myrika
Logan Henderson has it all: looks, money, and brains. Or so that's what people think. His life's going down the drain, and he doesn't know how to stop it.
False Facades - Maeven
Sam Westlane is the new kid in the famous all boys Crestan High School for the rich and the spoiled ... There's only one problem. Sam is a girl.
Jaded - Tijan
I'm loyal. I'm a b*tch. I roll with the punches, sometimes literally. And I screw my best friend. If you don't like me--deal with it.
Regan, White, and the Seven Deadly Sins - mrdryrdrlngs
After Regan is kicked out of her apartment by her best friend, she moves into the huge but rundown White Mansion with seven male roommates. If you think this is a fairy tale, think again.
Reason and Romance Redux - Myrika
A drunken one night stand with Alex Montgomery is a complication Adrian Blake doesn't need, especially not when he's her new stepbrother.
Six Feet from Paradise - JD Allen
His first words to her were, "So you're going to die, big deal, everyone else here does." And they expect her to like him? Who knew the weirdest guy she ever met would be the light in her dark times.
The Reality of Fairy Tales - Pareathe
On the surface it seems Chastane McAllen, an obsessively grounded college student, would be the polar opposite of a wealthy playboy like Devon Dunn. As their realities collide, they learn (the hard way) that most fairy tales begin that way.
Trouble Starts With a Q - Myrika
Spin-off of Redux. All Devon wanted was to be left alone. She tried reasoning. She tried pleading. Eventually she even turned to blackmail. The problem was Quentin Maxwell had just never learned the meaning of the word 'no.'
Sleeping With The Enemy - Penelope P. (This technically falls under HS and 21+)
The agreement was I spend every single summer at their summer mansion until I turn eighteen. Seriously, I’m not joking, they signed legal documents and everything in the hopes that I’ll fall in love with their son. Like that's going to happen!
21+, Workin' AdultsHome Torn - Tijan
She'd left five years ago because her sister took away someone she loved. It had always been like that. Her sisters were adored while she was ignored. Now she's back, but she's different. She had changed and now sought healing in a cold and torn home.
Jilted - Serako
Sayuri was the perfect woman. Beautiful, charming, and a successful interior decorator, to boot. So why did Eric leave her at the altar for her best friend? And why is Sayuri sleeping with Eric's sexy older brother Vincent? The story of a woman scorned...
La Cinq - Call me when you're rich
When Etta is rescued by a band of mercenary soldiers called La Cinq, she finds herself falling in love with the dangerous & deadly, Chase. Although he seems like the 'one she can never have', will danger and heartbreak make him change his mind?
Thirty Days - Em Wolf (The FMC is technically college age, but it fits more under this category)
I was young, beautiful, and filthy rich, so why was I being thrown into a marriage with a cold-hearted albeit heart-achingly handsome fiancé who had one month to make me comply with his wishes? I haven’t a clue, but if this jerk thinks he can “break me” so easily, he’s got another thing coming.
FantasySebastian Bear Invisible Pervert - hi-tanner85
g'night psycho, I thought to myself. There was a split second where I wondered who I was talking to, the invisible boy spooning me from behind...or me..the girl who somehow managed to summon him back from the darkest corners of dream world.
Xnay on Angerday, s'il vous plaît - Lulai
June was fine with her rather dull life. The last thing she needed was a cursed bracelet, a demon chasing her, and a surly vampire who makes her toes curl. Although she's changing her mind on that last one...
One-ShotsEulogies and Post It Notes Can Change the World - Imaginary Parachute
Abe Pruitt is going to improve the world, and she's doing it with sticky notes. Jack St. James is going to keep on being bothersome, and he looks good doing it, damn him. Doesn't it suck when the tables are turned?
The Eleventh Annual Hide Or Die Summer Challenge - Le Meg
The EAHoDSC is a long-standing tradition for Adelaide and her friends. But what happens when one of her other traditions - the delicious Charlie Harris - joins the fray? You know, besides the traditional inordinate amounts of sexual tension?
Most of these were probably SKoW winners/nominees, but... I thought I'd just put them here for easy access. I tried to put them in categories, but it didn't work out too well. I'll add more as I find more. Enjoy. :)
raeoflight - January 15, 2009 10:17 PM (GMT)
Out of all of those I really loved 4 of them.
Ha.
I didn't like The Reality of Fairytales. BLEH.
Carol - January 15, 2009 11:21 PM (GMT)
MendyK I couldn't have done better.
But, I'm not a big fan of Penelope P. That story of hers, Sleeping With The Enemy, gets kind of strange at the end (after the time jump).
Lulai is brilliant and so is Call me when you're rich. More than their writing I love the plots. And those two one-shot you have there are really good.
MendyK - January 15, 2009 11:48 PM (GMT)
Thanks Carol! I tried. Haha
Yeah, I sort of agree with Sleeping With the Enemy, but I still enjoyed it. It was one of the better ones I've read lately. But I mean all the stories I read first really can't be topped.
raeoflight - January 16, 2009 02:42 AM (GMT)
okay, so i have nothing better to do. well actually i have lots better to do. but im procrastinating.
so here is my list of some stories.
False Facades- Maevan
Sam Westlane is the new kid in the famous all boys Crestan High School for the rich and the spoiled ... There's only one problem. Sam is a girl.
30 Days-Em Wolf
Done. Layla Cherezli, beautiful heiress to billions has thirty days before she is thrown into a marriage with a callous, redheaded Adonis. But will her crude hostility and temper be enough to drive away a man determined to break her and make her his own?
Predator-Hotkitty
Angels fall, darling. They fall straight into hell.
Horrorscape-candid
Val receives a calling card from a very handsome, very dangerous boy who wants to 'play' with her. It's a game without rules, logic, or consequence. And he'll stop at nothing to claim her as his... even if it means destroying them both. REWRITE!
Private Lives, Public Property-star123
It's not easy to pretend you're in love for the sake of teenagers and housewives across the country but top footballer Lucas Goodspeed and shy, romantic Isobel Saunders soon discover that convincing themselves that they're not in love might be even harder.
Forbidden Obsession-sillyrabbit360
Recently grad, Danni knew that being a young teacher was a challenge, but teaching for one of the richest high schools, she learns things can get out of control. Especially if West Forest's Adonis, Logan Pearson, is your student.
Sapphires and Emeralds-Quill-and-Blood
She thought her fairytale had had an unhappy ending. He was living his. But then they met. And they discovered that their fairytale hadn’t even begun. -Complete-
Don't Make A Scene-SamanthaNicole
There are loads of things out there I'm not exactly fond of. For example: string beans, getting up early, doing homework, and Ryan Bradley. He was number one on my list. And he was trouble.
Home Torn-Tijan
She'd left five years ago because her sister took away someone she loved. It had always been like that. Her sisters were adored while she was ignored. Now she's back, but she's different. She had changed and now sought healing in a cold and torn home.
Avery Susan Sander is not an Ass-Justice Bana
Avery Sanders should have been pleased that she received a full ride to Verminton University, one of the most prestigious colleges around. All goes well until she meets Jack Shanahan. He's rich, arrogant, and his father is paying for Avery's education.
Walls Apart-bangbangstartagain
[COMPLETE] She liked rock music. He preferred classical. She said what she thought. He thought before he said. She was from the 21st Century. He was from the 19th. There were more than walls keeping them apart.
One Crowded Hour-Kendal
She wanted to ignore him, but that was harder than it sounded. Especially when he kept popping up in the middle of her living room. Now if only he would stay where he belonged... like in the twenty second century. [Fin.]
All Along-KNE
Neely Donovan isn’t interested in the whole popularity ordeal considering that her twin brother was one of the hottest guys that attended their school. But falling for the most popular guyand her bro's best friend was the last thing on her mind.
Regan, White, and the Seven Deadly Sins-mrdryrdrlngs
[complete] After Regan is kicked out of her apartment by her best friend, she moves into the huge but rundown White Mansion with seven male roommates. If you think this is a fairy tale, think again.

have you read all of those?
MendyK - January 16, 2009 03:00 AM (GMT)
Most of them. I haven't read Predator, Horrorscope, Sapphires and Emeralds, and maybe a couple others, but that's about it. I'll get around to them eventually. I liked most of them, except Walls Apart. That was only okay for me.
That summaries thing was a good idea. Maybe I'll edit mine and add them later.
raeoflight - January 16, 2009 03:04 AM (GMT)
yeah. well, right now im looking for a new story, and i cant find one!
gosh! this is horrible!
MendyK - January 16, 2009 03:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it's pretty tough to find a good story after you've already read most of them. Have you read all the ones I've added so far?
