Title: Acanthastrea Echinata lighting requirements

What lighting intensity have people had luck at keeping Acanthastrea Echinata? I've got mine in pretty bright light, and it seems to be happy, but I'm trying to decide where I can move it as my tank is a bit full and it's easier to find space down lower, or if I move most of my acros to the smaller tank I may actually have a bright light area opening up. Any ideas?

I have the rainbow acan echinata (one on my avatar) on the sand bed right now and it seems to be pretty happy. I also have a different one up high and I have actually been thinking of moving it down to the sandbed also because I really haven't seen much growth out of it in a while. I wonder if the lighting requirements are different for each variety of echinata?

I have two Acans both are in my main tank. The one Aussie Acan i just moved from my wife's nano tank where it was on the sand bed, with just power compact lighting and was doing fine. I just moved him about a week ago to my main tank that has 250 watt 20k MH lights, again to the sand bed. It seems to be opening up and growing more now that it's in this tank. Though I'm not yet sure if this is due to the increased lighting or increased water movement in this tank.

One thing I'm pretty sure about is that I they prefer to be closer to the sand bed in placement. I know whenever I see them displayed they are always at the bottom of the tank, and mine have always done fine there. ;)

These are quickly becoming one of my favorite corals due to the ease of care, gorgeous colors and rapid growth!

Hey Lee what dose your Acan look like? do you have any pics?
