Title: Macro Algae

I am eventually going to buy/build a fuge for my tank. Need to build another cabinet to set beside the tank as there is no room underneath the tank right now. Until that time comes is it Ok / Safe to drop some Macro Algae into my sump behind the skimmer to avoid it getting sucked up in there?

Can you put it in something to keep the fish from eating it? I would say it is ok just understand that some macro algae can be very intrusive and hard to remove from a display tank.

it can still get into the main tank even if its in the sump?

I think John misunderstood your question. You can put macro algae in your sump, but be careful as it can be sucked into a pump pretty easily. I know from experience. Tangs will eat macro algae if it is in the main tank.
