reefmate75 - April 6, 2008 03:07 AM (GMT)
hello omas people

im new to the boards as of today, just wanted to drop a note and say high and that i have been into saltwater tanks for about 2.5 years now and almost stopped befor i met a omas member (i will not shair his name as i dont know if he minds me posting about him haha) he taught me ALOT and now all the problems i was having before i met him are no longer a problem and the hobby doesnt seem so hard anymore...i was a blind cat tring to go fishing...needless to say that didnt work to well and i lost about 600 worth of fish from my first attempt and left it full of water for about 3 months and then bought another fish to get rid of the alge so i got a sailfin tang and he sayed in there by hiself for about 8 months and cleaned the alge up pretty good...anyways i can go on forever

posted the tank i started this hobby with for sell also so go take a look if your looking for a 75 gallon :P

Welcome to the OMAS board, SO sorry for all the trouble you had with your tank until you met the OMAS member that helped you out. This hobby is pretty complicated sometimes and it is always good to get an opinion from another person who may have had the same experience. OMAS does teach you the right way to do things and most of the time the most economical way. Hope to see you at a meeting soon and I pat on the back whoever helped you through the hard times with your tank.

Happy Reefing

Lori

AWESOME! So nice to have on the boards and at the meetings. Sounds like you have got going pretty well right now. So what are the next big plans for the tank? My name is John BTW.

reefmate75 - April 13, 2008 04:17 AM (GMT)
john...the shorter guy with a 75 gallon without a sump? sorry about the short remark was a way to ID you =) brown hair with glasses? i cant remember if you have all your hair hummm

next plan is to get my fish back in my tank after hypo sense i ordered 3 fish from SWF.com and the powder blue had ICK, looked great when he came in but the next day he had ICK all over him, all the fish i ordered are dead, was a powder blue, blackcap basslet and a neon goby so far to the ick i lost a royal gramma, neon goby, powder blue, blackcap basslet, 2 blue chromis, the fish look good and are eating well and have been in hypo for about a week now and no sign of ick anymore so i raised the SG back up to .013 (had it at .009 for 2 days thats when i lost the royal gramma and the chromis they didnt like that to much) i was planning on takeing it back up to .15 on sunday the 13th if ick comes back then i will drop it back down and just hold it at .01

so let my troble save you some and QT your live stock hahaha i know im going to start on anything i put in my tank this hypo is a pain in the buttocks (i dont use copper so thats why i hypo)

after that i thought i would try my hand in breeding, i have 2 goldstripe maroon clowns that are breeding right now female is about 4.5, male is about 4" i know they are a odd pair for maroon clowns haha
