Title: New (again)

Hello everyone,
I am once again delving into the world of saltwater aquariums. My first adventure ended badly but after a few years away....I am finally back. I have a 135 G tank with 60 lbs of sand, a little over 20 lbs of rock in it right now. Running a Fluval 2229 Pro wet-dry for filtration. Eventually hope to move to a sump set up as well. I have a False Percula Clown, a spotted hawk, a bubble tip anemone and a sand sifting starfish in there for now. Saving up for some good lighting next. Have to VHOs on it now. Nowhere near enough, so that will be my next purchase. Well, just wanted to say hello.

Do you have any pics of your tank?I know several who run VHOs and love it.I guess it all depends on what you are going to keep.

I had VHOs for 14 years, and was able to be very successful at any soft or LPS coral I ever tried. I can't say about SPS really, I never tried them until I changed out to T5's. And my change to T5s was more about being able to pick from a larger set of tubes, as well as saving a little bit of electric than any real problems with VHOs. Depending on what you want to keep, they can be sufficient for quite a few things.

We are hoping to keep mainly anemones and peaceful fish. I will try to get some pics posted on here soon.

You won't need to spend tooo much to keep anemones and fish. Does however depend on the type of anemones.

Thanks Scott. Are you the owner of Premier Aquatics? If so, every time I go to your store, it makes me want to get into corals as well. I would like to get the right lighting so that in the future we can sustain corals as well. For now, mainly just anemones and fish though.

Yes, it's me. Do yourself a favor and look at the types of corals you may want to keep in the future. No sense in buying lights that are too strong or not strong enough. Around here we want individuals to determine what their tank will look like [corals] down the road. Then get set up with the right lights for the future.

Thanks Scott,
My wife and I plan to research exactly what we need while we save up some money for good lighting. I have to compliment you on your store, it is quite an amazing place. Those shrimp mantises are things of nightmares though!!
