I was just wondering what everyone thought about this.

My wife and I split this one I felt like a year and she says three years. For me I think if you take all the people who get into saltwater and reefs that most wash out after 6 months to a year because it is a hard and expensive hobby, if you aren't educated. Thats why I feel omas can really help if we can just get to those budding reefers.

Hmmm...let's see... I was in the hobby for quite a few years way, way back in the bad old days...probably from about 1974 to 1982. Anyone who has been around long enough to remember how you kept marine fish (note I specified fish and nothing else) back then knows why I call it "the bad old days." I sold off everything when I joined the USAF, since the thought of moving a tank around the world didn't interest me. Since Nemo (aka: Richard) got me involved again, it's been almost two years. At this point, I'm not sure who's going to survive this outing...me, Richard or the reef...it varies from day to day.

Attention and focus thats the 2 main thinngs that keep you in the hobby, you lose those and it dont take long to get bored with it..

I agree with that statement Donny. With so much going on with our lives we can lose the attention we need to give to our reef.

I'm sorry...what were we talking about?

I agree as well, I get burned out fairly quickly and need to change my tanks around constantly. This is why I still have freshwater tanks to fulfill my need for changes. Not to mention much cheaper to change than saltwater.
This is a current pic of my 55 planted tank. As you can tell I am getting a little bored with having to keep it trimmed. It looks like a jungle.

I voted 1 year. After that the avarage person has gone bankrupt and in debt with multiple credit card companies. :o
