sweetfawn - January 14, 2007 04:39 AM (GMT)
As I posted on RC, I finally got my sump up and running. It took many trial and errors, including several puddles on the carpet  But I did it.
Keith asked for some pics, so, here they are!

I am getting alot of micro bubbles thru the return, does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this?

Is that a two-chambered sump? You probably need to figure out a way to separate the return pump from the skimmer and fuge overflow. It looks like your return pump's supply intake is awfully close to the fuge overflow. If you have a lot of flow, I suppose it's possible to get bubble caught in the flow through the baffles. Another thing to look at is how your skimmer's output might be affecting it. Any bubbles being injected from that output? Also, if you have even the tiniest of air leak in your plumbing (on the supply side), it may be sucking air and injecting it into the return stream that way. Right now, though, I'd be looking real hard at a way to isolate that return pump.

To get rid of micro bubbles try adding some of that blue and white filter pad in the chamber between the return and pump. It also will pick some of the unwanted solids.

Just be sure to change out those filter pads frequently. I have used them for a couple of yrs now, got lazy and left one in for over 2 months. Nitrates are over 20 and phosphates are also up. I just took out all the filter pads and letting the live rock do it all now. I did get lucky and have enough rock rubble in the drain so I don't get those bubbles.
Good luck with yours, I know You'll be very happy with its operation.
