Happy New Year !! I hope you and your families and your critters all thrived over the holidays, and that 2007 is a year of peace, happiness and health for all.

Our January ‘07 OMAS meeting will be held Saturday evening, January 20th. We have a topic, one that I have wanted to bring to the floor for a long time, but we need a place to have the meeting !!

Given the response to my proposed topic — The relationship between the local fish store and the Hobbiest – I predict that the meeting will be well-attended so we will need some space. It also is true that we might not need the space for very long because if the discussion becomes negative, ugly or personal, the meeting will adjourn immediately. The goal of this topic is to have a discussion between store owners and club members regarding how the industry works from the perspective of the store owner, and how we hobbiests, as customers, can best support the local stores that support us.

Tulsa is lucky to have some great lfs, particularly since some occupy different niches. Some stores sell dry goods, some don’t. Some emphasize corals, others focus on fish. I hope we can have an in-depth discussion so that at the end of the meeting the lfs owners know more about us and we know more about them.

George what stores have we heard from that have confirmed as making an appearence? I would hope that all four stores would commit and explain what OMAS and customers in general can do for them or should realistically expect from them.
