The orange eggs are Masago and the yellow are Tobikko. They have a couple different types of the Masago. The Clearwater brand has a more in it for the same price (150g for $4.99). Oh, both types are seasoned. We questioned Adam about this and he said it really wasn't an issue. We've fed the eggs by themselves and the fish go absolutely bug-nutty over the stuff. I think Richard has even mixed some up with phyto and fed them in the dark for the filter feeders and corals.

Masago? That belongs on a spider roll. :P

Unfortunately I missed the meeting, so this may have been discussed then. But are there any local suppliers of these? I know they get to Tulsa, as it's been mentioned, you run into them at sushi places quite regularly, but didn't know if any of the places would sell them without being in a roll  .

You can get them at Nam Hai at 21st and Garnett.

Thanks, somehow it just didn't register to me Nam Hai was a local place, I guess I missed more than I thought at the meeting. But it looks like soon I'll be feeding my tank sushi rolls. I mean I already feed Nori, add a little Masago or Tobikko and you're getting pretty close to a compete roll. And I doubt the fish would complain about a little salmon or other tasty fish to the roll. Heck, it's sounding good enough I may eat it myself and the fish can eat pellets...

You can also get them at Wild Oats for 1.99 per 2 ounces.I have also purchased them at Reasors on 41st and Yale.

I bought the last package Nam Hai had of the Clearwater brand Masago this afternoon. They have other brands, and the Tobikko as well. Funny enough, some of my fish seemed to love it (purple tang, and flame angel), but my old clown fish turned up his nose at them. He only eats Selcon soaked pellets for some reason, he doesn't even really like mysis or anything else much. Kind of like our old picky cat that if you try to feed it the same thing twice in a month it turns up it's nose and walks away.
Glad to hear Wild Oats also carries them. I love that place, I never get out of there without about half a dozen bags of different granola and trail mixes.

You are all quite lucky to have this available to you. For those that didn't know, I bought four packages of Masago and four of Tobikko and brought them home on the plane for my fish.
If I could, I'd buy unseasoned. But whatever seasoning is on there I'll put up with to get the eggs.
Nam hai was a fabulous store. I think you should all check it out and see what medleys of sea products they carry. We were unable to locate urchin roe, so if anyone finds some in the Tulsa area please post here so other's will know.
Thanks
Adam
