I have a piece of lava rock in my fuge that is currently home to a 3" mantis shrimp. I don't remember where I was, but someone said that it make sence to keep a piece down there for filtration. You guys think it'd actually do anything other than be a good home for a mantis?

Somewhere sometime ago someone said that lava rock might leach non good elements into your water because of the way its created. But obliviously thats all very vague so take my reply as just another shameless way to catch up on my post tally B)
