Title: OMAS REEF TANK!!

aquariumoddballs - March 29, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
I know there is a lot of new members in omas but about a year or so ago we all had discussed setting up a reef tank at a location like a school ,or a nursing home or somewhere that the people will get a lot of enjoyment and happiness out of the tank. Well me and jena had been dicussing trying to revamp this plan and get it back into motion . bill pond donated a nice oceanic sump and a skimmer that i have been holding onto(the skimmer is at the pools) for a long time and in my humble opinion i think we need to get this tank going! Today i went across the street to the life senior services building and talked to a very nice lady about maybe setting the tank up there and she was really excited about the idea . I am going to go over tommorow and see if they have room at this one if not there is a senior building towards downtown that she said is much bigger than the one across the street from our shop but i told her we will try to work with them if everyone can agree to this? Now we need a tank i will see what we have left on our back porch .
I may have a 55 that will work but im not really sure?just so you new guys know we are going to donate tank, animals(softys, fish, inverts, lps and so on)water, care and anythging else including maybe some discussion time with the seniors about the animals in there tank! So if anyone has any extra powewrheads ,heater, extra substrate and so on please chime in and lets make some seniors days a little brighter with a nice reef tank??iI know me and jena will take a maintanence shift a month :P anyone else interested?

I have about 20-25lbs of base rock and a spare working coralife superskimmer 65 out in the garage. I have a couple of powerheads out there as well, a zoo med, and a maxijet, that I think still works.

I have a Heater and alot of dead coral that might work. (better for a FO tank)
