Title: Michigan Coordinated Bigfoot Research
Description: Ideas for a coordinated hunt

I have a few Ideas for a coordinated hunt, let's keep it to this forum, since most people from Michigan are, or will be, on here.

1. Bigfoot hunting group style is fun, but a waste of resources. Instead of 10 people in one area, we should try and coordinate a weekend or night when 5 groups of two can all be out in separate areas. If we are all out together, but in different areas I think our odds go up immensely. If the odds of finding him are 1/1000000 in one place, the more places we hit decreases the odds. 1/500000, 1/250000, 1/125000, 1/62500, etc...

2. Focus should be on getting a photo or film of a marauding/skulking BF. If someone feels like charging after him for a biopsy, then that is up to them.

3. Should be overnight, I think odds go up if it's at night.

I'm down for that Drew... Sounds interesting...

I think the two of you aren't too far from each other, actually!

I know where I'm going.
off of the Lost Twin Lakes Trail between Houghton lake and Harrison.

Where is Josh P located?

I'm in a suburb of Detroit...

Interesting you mention that area Drew. That's not far from where a customer of mine claimed to have seen one cross the road. A bit north of there, just a bit west of the Houghton Lake research area, but not that far.

I've been up to that area on one occasion when I went on a summer trip near Higgins Lake which is in the same area... Would be nice to get up there again sometime...

If we did go in five different groups and could compare notes, then we could have a more focused hunt surrounding the location that provided the best possibility of a BF.

I like the idea, Drew. Camping is fun, even if a BF doesn't drop in.

Keeping with the five groups of two, I'm thinking that although not necessary, it might be advantageous to be somewhat close together (maybe creating a rough campsite funnel along a right of way or river/stream). I'd suggest leaving enough distance so that we couldn't hear others wood-knocking or call-blasting, but make it hard for a BF to travel between two camps without hearing wood-knocks or calls from at least one of them.

Organized, spread-out camps not only makes sense for increasing sighting odds, it also allows for daytime exploration of much more area, taking notes for future trips.

Some of the challenges I see are:
-Equipment. How many people have game-cams, NV, parabolic ears, etc.? I'm not saying we all need to have those things, but it's probably best to consider equipment distribution when choosing sites, etc.
-Ruling out human activity in case of a sighting or other incident. I'm not trying to be overly cynical, but we can't avoid each other knowing roughly where we're camping at, a situation easily percieved as a convenient opportunity for hoaxing.
-Everybody being able to get out at the same time.

I still like the idea though. I don't know about the dead of winter, but I don't mind camping in the cold. Isn't it supposed to be a little warmer next week? ;)
