Title: To get discussion started
Description: A little local history

littlefoot - January 19, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
I'm a Michigander from Berrien County. When I was growing up in the 1950’s & 1960’s there were lots of small towns & plenty of farmland & woods. Things are changing in the last 50 years, and will probably continue. In other words, it seems to gradually becoming way too urban for me! The farms & wooded areas are gradually giving way to people...too many people & everything they bring with them.

That wasn't always the case. Back in the 1920's through the 1960's this was pretty rural and was considered a vacation hot spot for people from the Chicago area who wanted to “get away from it all” and relax out here in “the sticks”. Lots of people had little cottages to come, refresh, and renew their spirits in Berrien, Cass & Van Buren Counties. There was the shoreline of Lake Michigan, dotted with little resorts, and many inland lakes, all surrounded by woodlands & farms. There was swimming, hunting, fishing…all the things that weren’t in the big city. It was, and still is, a great place to bring a family. That’s the simple little background history of the area.

So then along came Bigfoot… The Sister Lakes area (in Cass County) was lovely little lakes dotted by seasonal cottages and surrounded by woods & farms, then it happened.

Things died down after a long while. The only recent report I have any knowledge of is:

http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=2914

To my knowledge this incident was not reported in the local newspapers. I’ve lived in this area most of my life. There’s a long time between these incidents! I’ve not seen anything about Bigfoot in the local news.

I’m posting this “for the record”, and especially to generate some conversation here on the forum!

I am aware of a couple of other incidents in Berrien County, but from on the web and not from either local legend or newspapers. Have you?

Yep! I was simply posting a couple that I'm aware of from my area of the state.

I'm wondering... How can you post without registering?

It would be great it you registered & gave a brief overview of your interest in Bigfoot!

Editted for my dumb typos!!

That's our fault, LF... kind of missed the part in set-up where we have to require that people be registered and logged in to post. ^_^

It's fixed now, but thanks to whoever that was for the links!

Stacy, there might be another problem... I editted my post, but I see the changes I made didn't all work. No big deal, its still readable, but didn't work as I'm used to.

I editted to change it to if.

Thought I'd mention it, in case this is a problem that could be easily fixed. There's always the chance it was something I did...

Get the early bugs worked out, and it will be just fine!

Bet

I just had a 'B' class sighting recounted to me by a former member of the Army Reserve. He was in Grayling, MI doing his two weeks, and was preparing for a physical exam by running every morning of his stint. One morning, he starts running and is jogging along the road, all of a sudden he hears something running next to him in the woods. It is crashing through trees and branches, it was big, he couldn't see it. It paced him exactly for approx. 100 yards. (It in the woods, he on the road) It scared the crap out of him, and he said that morning was the best run time he ever clocked. This was 20 years ago.
