Title: New legislation

Gordon - June 10, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
Under the new forum rules this section will have to be removed for legal reasons and sensitivity we apologise for any inconvience.

Gordon

This forum isn't going anywhere until I get word from official invision sources thanks - Vamps

Why? WH40k is a tabletop wargame, nothing offensive or illiegal about it. And where is this new rule that prohibits it?

Gordon - June 11, 2005 07:54 AM (GMT)
The new rules are out shorlty, howver i will spell it out to you now:

The topic above breqaks several legal acts mostly to do with copyright and false advertisment, if you woulkd like a complete list of these, the way they are being broken, the mbers that are breaking them and legal clarification of them then please do not hesitate to pm or e-mail me.

Gordon

Legal acts? This here is Games Workshop's own policy on using their games as discussion topics in forums.

Our Attitude

The vast majority of people who work for Games Workshop are hobbyists. Like all GW hobbyists the world over, we love to talk about our hobby... endlessly (just speak to anyone who lives with a Games Workshop employee!). So we understand other hobbyists' similar desires. Indeed, it's true to say that talking about games you've played, what armies you collect, how you beat the hell out of your buddy's really cheesy Chaos army, etc., is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the hobby. Not only that, but, let's be honest, the higher profile the hobby gets the better it is for all of us.

We are constantly impressed by the high standard of some of the GW-related stuff we come across – whether it's a web site or fanzines or artwork or animations or... the list is endless, but you know what we mean. It makes us proud to be working in such a fantastic hobby. We are honored that people are willing to spend considerable amounts of time and energy on projects inspired by our games and imagery. Such effort deserves praise and encouragement - not censure.

This was pulled straight from GW's website.

Darmort - June 11, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
Actually, I see no rule breakages, so what you're saying is utter rubbish.

There aren't new Forum Rules as of yet, so we can't be breaking new Forum Rules. I'm sorry to break your bubble, but, nothing wrong.

Dark Angel 17, I've never heard a truer speech, :)

dark angel 17 - June 11, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
Not mine though. GW wrote it. Attempting to shut the 40k section down would force me and the other members of this forum to contact GW directly and ask them if what ISEGUO doing is illiegal. You have no right to close down this forum and we certainly have the right to stop you. Freedom of speech, in my mind, is as valued as life itself.

Besides the fact that what dark angel posted about GW's stance on sites such as this, if these were a breach of legal laws then GW, or indeed any other similar companies that also have a vast amount of "fan" sites would have lept at the chance to close them down.
The fact of the matter is that, while they are also not illegal, they also promote GW's products, business and, indeed, reputation. They are perfectly happy for such sites to exist as its a type of "free advertising" for themselves.

On a side note, if what you, Gorden, said is true then it would also apply to almost every forum on this site. What, indeed, would closing down this site succeed except for inflation in your own self esteem, which, from reading your posts on this site, is what you are quite clearly seeking. Dont worry, many people out there have such a problem. Sadly, you are going the wrong way about dealing with it.

Nice to see you back and posting Silas. You, Gordon, seemingly want to close this forum down, but I constantly stress that none of us will let you. Sure we've flamed each other and disagreed before but you have given us a reason to unite and resist this takeover.

Nice to see you back and posting Silas. You, Gordon, seemingly want to close this forum down, but I constantly stress that none of us will let you. Sure we've flamed each other and disagreed before but you have given us a reason to unite and resist this takeover.

And I for one back this 150%!

Picture it like this, Gordon;

We are a happy little community that doesn't need any rules so strict.
You are a big, angry judge and come stomping down on us saying "OH NO! You're not allowed to do that! This, That and They say so."
We say. "We've never heard of This, That and They."
You say. "Well now you have, and you've got to obey This, That and They."
We say. "We don't want to."
You say. "But you have to. If you have any complaints, see our complaints department."
We say. "But you're forcing this upon us, you don't have the rights. You're also stopping us from doing X, Y and Z."
You say. "But you're now part of system N, so you can't do X, Y and Z, but you've got to do F, G and H."
"We've never heard of F, G and H..."

And so on. You try forcing it upon us, you have rules where no one can open their mouths without you saying "NO! Stop talking right now or I'll warn you!"

Ask yourself this; Do WE, the people of this Forum, want it, or do you? If you asked us nicely, maybe Chaos God would of thought about it, since you come barging in here saying we aren't allowed to talk about our hobby, I think you'd be lucky if you're only put on the Mod Que.
So, Gordon, are you going to continue trying to boss us around with your "Copywrite Laws" that we've never heard of and certainly not broken, force your "You aren't allowed free speech anymore," and make us the peasant mongrels that almost all people once were.

Or.... are you going to stop, apologize, and ask nicely, then maybe we might consider letting you move us. But then again, because of all the trouble you've caused us, we won't. Gordon, you really need to think about things before you force them down other people's throats. Well done for ruining many people's lives'.

Chaos God, make a Forum hidden from Gordon and his cronies so we can discuss how to make a new site. Thank you,
Darmort, the very ******** off Moderator.

dark angel 17 - June 11, 2005 09:01 PM (GMT)
Your "rules" remind me of a dictatorship. Whoever opens their mouths will be killed or in our case, banned. And Darmort, there's no need to make a new forum, simply ban these goons and everything will be fine.

CHAOS GOD666! - June 13, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
Dont worry about Gordon guys, hes been deleted from the site. None of the 'shit' that he has written is true, so theres no reason for us to move the site. Although if you are interested in helping me make a new community of gamers let me know here. The solid members of this site will be mods if you like and i will aventually get onto selling terrain but for now if your interested in making a 'Version 2' of MW let me know and ill get onto it. :)

Silas - June 13, 2005 04:26 PM (GMT)
Yeah that would be cool.

Sorry i havent been around much, i've explained my reasons elsewhere ;).

I can help you out for any warhammer stuff. I'll probably steer clear of any computer games/music/whatever else stuff though...

dark angel 17 - June 18, 2005 05:49 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty down with the whatever stuff that Silas doesn't want a part of. I've already PMed you.
