I play Tomb Kings, Greenskins, High Elves, Lizardmen, Chaos and i wnat to collect Oriental Alliance:
The Battles of the Orient
Written and compiled by Francis Gene-Rowe
As the storm of chaos descends upon the old world and things start to look bad for the Empire as Archaeon and Crom start to steamroller towards it; a similar situation was happening on the other side of the world in the nations collectively known as Oriental Cathay…

A note on the nations of Oriental Cathay
Not much is known about the orient because on very few occasions have denizens of the west come into the east (there are exceptions, most notably the Dark Elves, although their intentions aren’t exactly peaceful!). However, a handful of scholars (e.g. me) have a raw understanding of Cathan (the regional language); and will tell us about Imperial Cathay, Nippon and Sindyha or the kingdoms of Ind; and how they are the greatest (current) civilisation of mankind. (I may make the note that the aforesaid nations have all had contact with the now non-existent empires of Khemri and Remea/Tilea). However with every Chaos incursion into the old world, there has been an incursion against Cathay (since chaos has more than one chosen one to deal with all of its enemies); and it just so happens that the Marauders of the North and the Daemon hordes of the south have (yet again) attempted to invade Cathay and the nations of the east.

The forces Involved in the battle for the Orient:

The forces of Chaos
The forces of chaos in the east come from the north and south. From the north come the marauder tribes of the Hung and the Kurgan, great armies of mounted barbarians accompanied by daemons and beasts of chaos. From the south come the Daemonic legions of the southern continent of the Warhammer World who cross the ocean by “island hopping” along the ancient Elven islands that bear the Citadel of Dusk, the Tower of the Sun and the gates of Calith; as well as many other bastions long since abandoned. In total, these chaotic forces total some two millions of men, beasts, and daemons. It is noteworthy that there is a rebel faction consisting of Doomed ones of Malal who have allied with the self styled Warlock Lord. (Another note of interest is that of all the Chaos Gods; Khorne, Tzeentch, the Horned Rat and Malal have by far the greatest following in the orient.)

The Oriental Alliance
After receiving news from Sindyha and rumors from Khuresh (see the map in the High Elf book), the Shogun of Nippon and Emperor of Cathay realized that yet another Chaotic invasion was imminent and so mobilized their enormous armies. These armies, coupled with warriors from Sindyha and tribesmen from Khuresh; form a vast force totaling well over five million- a scary prospect for any foe. This force, called the Oriental Alliance, has been divided so as to meet the various threats to its constituent nations. The armies of the Oriental Alliance are extremely diverse; with cannons and other siege engines from Cathay, massed Samurai and warrior monks from Nippon, elephants and chariots from Sindyha, and mounted tribesmen from Khuresh.

The Chaos Dwarfs
As all of you know, the crews of the hellcannons of Archaeon are Chaos Dwarfs and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that there are more from wherever they came from. As the winds of magic began to blow across the world and Chaos is launching another offensive against the “free races”, the Chaos Dwarfs were determined not to be left out. Although they also followed Chaos, the Chaos Dwarfs were not exactly on friendly terms with the Marauder tribes who made up the bulk of the northern Chaos force; and so they ended up in an uncomfortable position between all of these enormous forces. Naturally, the Chaos Dwarfs weren’t going to let this get them down; and so they immediately began to form alliances with some of the nearby Ogre kingdoms and Greenskin tribes; along with a state of neutrality with the forces of the Warlock Lord. The forces of the Chaos Dwarfs and their allies just approach one million, a comparatively small figure but still a significant one given the defensibility of the bastions of the Chaos Dwarfs.

The Dark Elves
There’s not much to be said about this. Suffice to say that the Dark Elves have sent raiding forces to Cathay and Nippon totaling about one hundred thousand troops.

The Warlock Lord’s armies
Not much is known about the armies of the Warlock Lord. What is known about them is that the Warlock Lord is a figure of immense magical power who has forces of Doomed Ones of Malal, corrupted Greenskins; summoned Daemons, Undead and Elemental spirits; and Marauder tribes under the impression that he is some kind of Chaos God (in fact he hates the guts of Chaos and is a bit like Be’lakor- more on that next issue). The extent of his armies is unknown (in fact it is probably about a eight hundred thousand).

The Naga and the Guardians of the Ether
The Naga are a seafaring race who could be called mermen with the exception that they have the ability to shapeshift their tails into legs to walk on land. They have a control of magic based upon the element of water; and they use it to gain control of the creatures of the deep ocean. Recently, as Chaos began to stir, a mysterious group called the Guardians of the Ether formed an alliance with the Naga to kill the Warlock lord and prevent the Daemonic legion to reach the mainland; as well as to prevent both forces from gaining control of the magical treasures of the Elven Isles. The Guardians of the Ether possess no magic; what they do have is an ability to drain opponents’ magic and make it their own. The exact extents of nthis ability are unknown, however, it could make them the bane of the Warlock Lord’s forces and the Daemonic Legions.
The forces of this alliance total about half a million.

Other random spassiness Forces
There are various other independent forces in this titanic conflict; examples being Skaven (Clan Eshin), Greenskin tribes, the Ogre Kingdoms and other stuff; but none of them play so great a part as the forces mentioned above.

In the next issue will be a continuation of this article detailing the unfolding events in the east.

On the original question i am starting dark elves. I plan a shooty force around a solid core of troops and maybe some black guard, a hydra and well my favourite...executioners :D

To be honest you dont see many dark elf players (unless you go to druchii.net) and its hard to get advice on them :(

I may choose chaos but i dont like tzeench, slaanesh or anything other than hordes of chaos. Lets just say i dont like seamons B)

I not exactly the biggest fan but i must say that i liked dwarves because of the guns and big cannons. This would be choice no. 3 for me.
