Title: Tyranid Tactics
Oblivious - March 9, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some tactics with my army..i have tyranids and i just need help with tactics on concealing them until they get close enough to get into close combat.
because i think we all know that nids are best at close combat.
any advice would be helpful. Thanks

i would say just make sure that you get to set up the terrain and set it up so that all the units that you are charging with can make it behind cover before your oppositions turn.

Heres an Idea, cover your main troops with cannon fodder. If your being overrun have cannon fodder attack so your main troop can run. Tyranids have a weak armor, similar to Eldar you just need to find the right troop and then cover them with cannon fodder. Also it might be a good idea to keep hidden and let the enemy come to you so your within melee distance. (Just an idea)

ok all you have to do is keep your army in one big swarm and it wont matter if you loose a bit while getting shot.

i say dont rely on terrain, then when you have hardly any, you have a fragile and elite firce that gets pciked off.
1. Take blocks of troops to either tie down units or run right over them, also expect a lot of shooting.
2. Take a hive tyrant and/or a carnifex, very dangerous.
3. Attack in a swarm so you dont spread out and gets tied down.

Emperors champion akeris's help is probably the best so far. Im sure you know most of whats been said so far but you just need to keep practicing new ways its the only way you will master your army.

Ok another shot-
1. try to infiltrate with anything you can *hint Genestealers* with their rending weapons (means on a 6 to hit or wound no saves)
2. Keep anything like a biovore hidden and protected by a sacrificial squad. Use that squad to block assault squads and anything deepstriking around your expensive and fragile biovores.
3. As mr spartian said move your army as 1 as nidz turn fragile when you can spread them out.
