Title: what army?

Oblivious - January 7, 2005 03:24 AM (GMT)
Hey all, I was thinking of collecting a fantasy army after i finished my nids force. which army would be best for me to collect?

Morkskittar - January 10, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
Depends. What do you like doing? Bashing, or being sneaky?

Oblivious - January 10, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
umm..well, i like to bash, but im not very good at doin that

I would be Chaos as they have alot of special units and most a very good. Take Maruaders for example, they have alright stats and it costs then then 15pst per unit so you can go wrong. I think the only thing with chaos is that the special units cost loads in points so you have to make a good decision what special units you want in your army. :) Get the Warhammer Rulebook and that will tell you alot about all armies in WF.

ok dat sounds cool, i might be chaos then

I would also research around the internet aswell as that has alot to offer. Have alook at Games Workshop official site as that has alot of information about armies. Chaos are more of the bashers that like close-combat and stuff like that. High Elfs are more of weaken the foe before they get to you, using bow-arrows, crossbows ect. Take time to chose a army as you may regret it. :(

is there an army that has close combat and also has ranged attacks?

Plaguebearer - January 13, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
Dark Elfs are quite decent and i think that you can use them as part of a Chaos army but I am not too sure. They have very deadly units such as Dark Elf Warriors which are good at close combat and then you have the Dark Elf Reaper with Bolt Thrower. Empire are also good at that aswell if you want both combinations as they have alot of heroes, core and special units so you havea sellection, but it is upto you. Hope that this helps and if you have a MSN account then I can talk to you more if you get me? <_<

Oblivious - January 13, 2005 10:52 PM (GMT)
I think I might get either empire or dark elf, because from what i've heard they are two pretty good armys in fantasy

Morkskittar - January 16, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
Dark Elves - Cooler Fluff, and much better models.l

Empire - Too shooty for my tatses, and the models aren't all that great...

Oblivious - January 16, 2005 10:26 PM (GMT)
well ok, but when i go to GW next time, i will have a look at them, thanks :D

Let's see, my experiance form the Armies.

Skaven: Rubbish models, and hard to play, understand and use, I wouldn't go after them.

Dark Elves: My Favorite Army, although I wouldn't go there, they're tough to play and hard to get right.

Empire: A most execellent Army, it's perhaps the easier Army to play, and the Models are great, despite what Mork says.

Dogs of War: Expencive to get the real things, but if you get long eough spears you can make some Pikemen, get some Heavy Cavelry from a few Armies for Heavy Cav and so on, easy to use aswell, cheap Cannons.

Chaos: Barbaric, disorderly and easy to play, unless you're Khorne or Tzeentch.

Orcs: Fun to play, what more can I say?

Vampy Counts: Easy to pay, kinda, forgiving except when you're playing me, just try to keep your General safe, but Vampy Counts have a good Army selelction, no matter how expencive they are (Point terms).

ok kool, well hearing that i will probably get, orcs, chaos, or empire

You insult me! Skaven are hard to play, they have awesome models, and are really fun!

Oblivious - January 30, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)
well if they are hard to play, i don want them. although i would like models that you have to put alot of deatail into and that are a challenge

Darmort - January 30, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)
Actually, over a distance of 12" you can't tell the differance between 90% of the units, Morkskitter.

Detail? Don't go for Skaven then, just spray brown and do the whiskers. <_<

Anyway, a detailed race is Brettonia, lots of horses, lots of detail on them. The only problem is that you have automatic horse mounted Characters unless you go for an honour or something.
I think another would be Daemonic Legion. Lots of big monsters, paint with skill and difficulty I think.

Oblivious - January 30, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
daemonic legions sounds good, and im apparently pretty good at painting so i will have a go at them
