Title: why are tyranids so expensive?

Oblivious - January 7, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
why is it that tyranids are more expemsive than some of the other armies? i really want to know why they decide to make one tyranid HQ $55 and one eldar HQ only like $25?
I am confused, shouldn't all HQ be worth the same? or is it because the nid HQ has better stats or what i don't know why, please can someone tell me?

Erokose - January 7, 2005 07:20 AM (GMT)
Yes its because of better stats. My HQ (eldar farseer) cost $18 I think. He isn't that powerful apart from psychic abilities. Your main HQ has got heaps of stuff and he is huge. As for other things being expensive the gargoyles are too over priced.

Oblivious - January 7, 2005 07:27 AM (GMT)
i reckon. gargoyles are worth $22 for two! and u cant buy dem in blister packs, and i cant use them if i bought them, because the minimum i can have in my army is eight gargoyles. they should bring out big packs of 12 i think, more people would buy them then

Erokose - January 7, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
its so they make more money. With the guardians they put them in packs of 8. You buy 8 then buy another 8 so you 16, you need 20 for a finished squad so you might as well buy another pack. See how they rip you off.

Oblivious - January 7, 2005 07:44 AM (GMT)
yeah, i know its so they make money but they should do what they do with all the other miniatures. why do they have blister packs but no big packs, and to my knowledge gargoyles are the only miniatures they do it for...correct me if im wrong

Erokose - January 7, 2005 07:57 AM (GMT)
They do it with every race. 2 eldar warpsiders for $22

Oblivious - January 7, 2005 09:36 AM (GMT)
well ok then, but you see, you only have to buy 4 warp spiders and u can use them, i have to buy 8 gargoyles to use them....dats $88 i cud buy a zoanthrope and a hive tyrant with $88, probably less than that.

Erokose - January 8, 2005 11:23 AM (GMT)
As I said, Gargoyles are a rip off and arn't worth paying all that money unless you really really want them!

Oblivious - January 8, 2005 11:41 AM (GMT)
I really really want them because they are apparently really good, but i wud rather buy a hive tyrant then waste my money on two gargoyles when i cant even use them

Plaguebearer - January 11, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
I dont really get you. You may be on about the box sets and to my knowledge they are the same price but that is in £, you are onabout $ so I cant tell you much about that. If it is more money for one then the other then it is either because of better stats OR because there may be more special units or something like that, hope this helps. :)

Oblivious - January 13, 2005 08:43 AM (GMT)
yeh we're talking about the boxed sets. a tyranid hive tyrant...that comes in a box set, and i am just saying how a nid HQ is more expensive than an Eldar HQ, and then we kind of started talking about those damn gargoyles

Plaguebearer - January 13, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
OK, thanks for that Oblivious!!!!! I think that I stated most of my opinion up above and I still agree with it and can we please stop talking about those damn gargoyles. :P

Oblivious - January 13, 2005 11:04 PM (GMT)
well we can't get over the fact that you can only buy 2 in a blister pak, and they cost $22!!! and i know it happens with every army but with eldar, there warp spiders, you only have to buy four to make a squad, but wit gargoyles you have ti buy 8

Darmort - January 14, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
2 Per Blister they may well be, but being British (Like Plague Bearer, I think), all I can say is that America obviously strikes again. Here a Blister is about £6 for those Gargoyles, which is about $13 in America, I think.
So either they're ripping you off REAL bad or they haven't checked the worth of the models themselves.

Oblivious - January 14, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
omg!!! can you please stop calling us americans!!! we're auzzies, and yeh over here the cheapest blister is $18 auz

Darmort - January 15, 2005 11:14 AM (GMT)
Oh..... Never knew that..... Sorry.....

It was just the $ sign.

Sorry.....

*trembles*
*Falls over*
*Gets up and leaves*

But that really is a rip off....

Oblivious - January 15, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
nah don worry about it, i just got annoyed because heaps of people have thought me and my m8s are americans and were auzzies, but yeah it is a rip off

emperors champion akeris - January 16, 2005 09:55 AM (GMT)
Lol think about the poor people buying steel elgion like me. for 83 points you have to spend $55 AUS. and then everything needs a chimera :( then it gets worse

Gargoyles are a ripoff though steer clear of them

Oblivious - January 16, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
yeah i havent't given in to buying them yet because there are other miniatures i need, but apparently i have heard that gargoyles would be a good asset to my army ;)

Erokose - January 24, 2005 07:53 AM (GMT)
Back to the money chrisis, 6pounds is like $18 aus. (Sorry I don't have the pounds sign on my keyboard.) But anyway a total rip off ive noticed, you can buy an eldar falcon tank for $60 or a eldar prisim cannon tank for $75, but the thing is you get all the falcon tank bits in a prisim tank box.....wtf is up with that?? your better off buying the prisim tank (Sorry for going off topic)

Gargoyles are extreamly good thats why they are so expensive. Tell me, why does 8 guardians cost me $50 when like 12 gene stealers cost the exact same price and gene stealers are 100x better then Guardians.

Oblivious - January 25, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
they are probably evening out the prices thats why, but it is still expensive over here in Australia, i shud go ova and buy all my stuff in england and then come back over to auz

Lone Wolf - February 8, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
sort of like what they do with hot dogs and hot dog buns
evil i say

Oblivious - February 8, 2005 04:40 AM (GMT)
damn those evil hot dog makers, but i suspose it so they make money, well im not buyin any gargoyles until i have everything else i need......those damn gargoyles are at the bottom of my list

Spartan-118 - February 9, 2005 09:21 AM (GMT)
no the cheapest over here is 14 it goes by what you buy. i think even over there use have that a, b, c, d chart.

Oblivious - February 15, 2005 09:44 AM (GMT)
yeah thats for blister packs, but the boxed sets range from $50 to $150 or something like that.

Gargoyles come in blister packs, and i think thay are about $30 for two, not too sure but, I haven't been to GW in ages, i think i might go their and have a look before i go to the prodigy concert
