Title: Want to start Blood Bowl

Morkskittar - November 26, 2004 12:05 AM (GMT)
Hi. i was wondering whather or not to start Blood Bowl. It seems a lot cheaper compared to WHFB, as there are less models, and you don't need to buy the rulebook...
Can anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of each side? Are they similar to what they are in WHFB?

Ok well i cant be too much help here as ive never played it. IMO i dont really like the look of it, i much prefer 40k and fantasy, but thats only me.
Anyone else got any experience in blood bowl?

Blood Bowl is one of the best GW games ever released. It is fun, random and a lot quicker then a game of fantasy. Cheaper as well. Easier to learn.
Oh, there's thousands of upsides to the game.

On to your question;

All the "hard" races are pretty much the same in Blood Bowl as they are in Fantasy. The elves, humans and so on are slightly different though. They can be good at all parts of the game, whereas the orcs and chaos can only really run with the ball, preferably through their opponant.
Its pretty hard to describe the strenghs and weaknesses of every team (for one thing there are far more teams then there are armies; for instance there is 4 types of undead teams).

For an easier way of getting into bloodbowl, first read through the Live Rulebook on the Blood Bowl home page, then go here; Fumbbl

This is an online version of the game. When the home page loads up click on the User Guide and read that all the way through. Many people fail to actually read it all the way through, they skim it and believe that they've read all the important bits and then complain when they cant get it to work...
Follow the instructions in the Guide and soon you'll be creating your online team and playing people over the net! Its good fun.

If you want to give me a game any time, just let me know. I'm also Silas on there...

FUMBBL looks too comlicated. I don't really have the time, either... Thanks, though.

well, Fumbbl is easier to learn then the actual game, because you dont need to know as many rules. Its also a piddle of piss to navigate, you just have to spend a little time reading the manual.

Which is the problem with youth today; no-one reads the manuals anymore. Most problems in life can be solved by reading the manual. My job would be sooo much easier if people read manuals (i work as a deputy head I.T hardware/software support technician, and the majority of people who contact me ask me so many stupid questions and my general reply is "Look in the manual")

Fumbbl is also quicker to play then the board game version, you dont have to paint the models, set up the pitch, roll the dice, move markers etc.

Really? But is it as rewarding as the tabletop game?

Aye! Its got the added bonus of being less complicated to manage your teams, you have a much wider selection of teams to use AND you can play well over 1,000 different people...

How many people could you play in RL?
