Description: Ogre Kingdoms
Morkskittar - November 14, 2004 08:00 PM (GMT)
I am going to be starting an OK army soon. I was wondering what others think about OK, and whether they will start.
Also, you should check out
The UnderempireI am a member of it, under the name Morkskittar. It is primarily Skaven though.
Also, check out my webpage for my WHFB club,

two things;
Welcome
and if you want a decent Army, these are thye best choices;
Empire, as they are Adapteable and can all sorts of Themes, IE, Knightly Theme with plenty of Cavelry, or a Cannons Army
or Dark Elves, full of Elite and dangerous Units, although they can't take damage, they too can have plenty of Themes, also, the Model Range is better than that of the High Elf one, ;)
Brettonians if you like being Knightly and all that crap, don't get these, they're hard to play with and against and they can be considered Cheesy
Skaven are a Rat breed and have lots of oppotunities of being cheesy aswell, and at looking at them they all look the same really
High Elves: ugly Models and their Fluff doesn't justify their Rules, I wouldn't go HEs
Vampire Counts are the easiest army to lose with, lose your General and you literally lose the game, keep him safe or don't play them at all (plenty of skellies can help with that)
Dwarfs are like the Empire, plenty of Themes but are Slow, they are a "Come and Get me" Army for n00bs IMO
Khremri, just see Vampire Counts
Wood Elves, well, i'd wait for the their New Armies Book
Ogre Kingdoms, NAH-EH! theres a good chance they won't be very good and will have the lorst possible army list ever, and who wants the smelly brutes anyway?
Chaos: tough and cheesy, but can be hard to play right, don't Play Khorne unless you like your Warhounds.
Chaos Dwarfs, same as Dwarfs, but not as "Come and Get me!" an Army
Orcs are just fun to play, these have several differant Themes aswell
Dogs of War are for the people who have hundreds of dosh to buy them from Mail Order, or got them from their dad for £30
Lizzies, Magic Heavy Cold dumb boyz, but they're tough and stubborn, and hard to play without tactics experiance

Yeh welcome im the s*it stirrer on every forum i visit. LOl primarily skaven i no nothing about druchii (dark elves) yet im a member there.
Honestly i hate the majority of their models. HMMMMMMM miniature orges i dont think so. I understand that the army box is out and to be brutally honest i think they will be the flavour of the month and then sit there as dust magnets.
I would rather big chinky brutes smashing things rather than little pansies and a few brutes but then theres people who want hordes.

Welcome
I wouldnt reccomend OK for any beginner for one reason, too few models. Yes they are hard but the only good thing about their normal troops are their t5! Thats all! Str 4 and hardly any armour to add onto that, they cost loads! Unless you ave a very good grasp on tactics then you will not win easily. The only good units that Ive seen are leadbelchers, Ogres with (not great) cannons underneath their arms. Their magic is appauling and frankly veteran man-eaters arent that hard either.
BUt dont take my word for it... I play vampire counts...

I am not a beginner! I have been playing for almost three years! I have two armies and am finishing a third (Tzeentch Chaos Mortal, Skaven, and Vampire Counts).

Almost three years is a beginner! Its only a third of the time i've been playing ;)
To be perfectly honest I havent taken a look at the OK list, i'm not interested one bit. Maybe sometime next year i will.
I'm going to collect them eventually, but am busy with other projects at the moment.
So i cant be of any real help. Not even sure why i replied...

Well, Silas, I don't consider it 'beginning.' I know the rules better than the people at my local Hobby shop (the owners there ask me to help them with the rules- and they have been doing it longer than you). I am no nube. You can call me that, but in essence, you are wrong.
Silas - November 17, 2004 02:05 PM (GMT)
Not necessarily "beginning". More nearing the end of your "beginner" years. Generally its four years (at least in most parts of england) and then another 3 years as a gamer, then you are considered a veteran.
After 15 years of being in the hobby you are considered a "legend".
These years can of course be speeded up by doing well in tournys, painting competions etc.

So you are a 'veteran'? And I am... an advanced beginner? Even though the people at the place I go to ask me about the rules? I know the rules better than them. Fine, I may be a beginner. I cannot win any battles. I guess that need to think more when I play...
