Part 1. Tell me what you think?
A scratch built Tau outpost defended the valuable wreckage of a downed Orca Drop ship. Slip trenches and corrugated iron bunkers were all that protected them. Their objective was to land and reinforce the lines meeting the Chaos host but that failed when they took a hit from a captured imperial hydra emplacement. They were prepared a best they could be. Fire warriors lined the outer ring whilst pulse cannons covered them from the inner circle.
From the command post the scrambled radar picked up vague movement but in this type of weather the reading could not possibly be accurate. Looking through his scope O’sah saw a distant shape. It was heading directly in his direction. He dared not raise the alarm until he knew exactly what he was facing. Peering through the lens the object became larger and clearer; it appeared to be a thunderhawk. Now knowing what it was he called his Shas’ui who immediately signalled for the damaged broadside to open fire. Ion cannons tracked the moves of this devious daemon creation but were to far out of range to hit.
Now in full view the thunderhawk spat drop pods at the tau lines. They came crashing down like meteors and those unfortunate enough to freeze were killed instantly under the armoured monstrosity. O’sah was narrowly missed by a falling drop pod and leapt over the trench face to prepare for action.
A hail of mutated creatures poured forth from the stricken craft and began to infest the already outnumbered tau. O’sah wasted no time. Pumping rounds into the horde from behind. 7 fell and 4 were wounded along with the aspiring champion wearing power armour. O’sah ran across the open ground trying to make it to the other side of what was now a battle stricken trench. A missile round shreaked as it hit the ground just a few feet in front O’sah. Shrapnel shredded a wounded firewarrior lying on the ground next to O’sah who was thrown to the ground. As he picked himself up he was in no mans land. He looked at the line seeing his men fall valiantly and his enemies being crushed under the speratic pulse rifle fire.
Holding his left shoulder he sprawled into the hole made by the missile round. He picked up his rifle, which he had accidentally thrown when the blast shocked him. Peering down the sight he saw the havocs responsible for the missile. Quickly dispatching of the champion before blasting a lascannons and one of 2 heavy bolters. The remainder ducked down for cover before delivering a wall of bullet and missile around O’sah position.
Once again raising his rifle he managed to pick off the missile launcher before leaning hard against the wall in preparation for the torrent of heavy bolter. Seconds later huge rounds sprayed his position. One of who managed to hit his helmet although causing little damage. Again he rose and dispatched his final enemy before rising to his feet and stumbling to an empty section of trench.
I want more! I want more! I want more! Give me more! :D
but siriously, this is execellent, keep up the good work, I look forwards to reading Part Two
Part 2 of 2
Enemy transport vehicles were belching smoke and flames from their burnt out shells. The Tau had showed their grit by managing to hold back the tide thus far. O’sah lay down in the trench and waited. He didn’t have long. 5 horribly mutated beings scuttled round the corner. O’sah and his trusty pulse rifle obliterated the lightly armoured beings. As he lumbered around the corner O’shui who was in the same training facility as O’sah joined him. The two pumped ammunition into the chaos scum. There was so many of them that everything managed to hit at least one and on occasions a second brute was felled by such concentrated fire.
Another 3 firewarriors joined O’sah and O’shui and together they headed for the command bunker that was under siege from constant kamikaze attacks from rebels and mutants. The trench narrowed from here. Leaning against the side of the trench where the trench abruptly narrowed one of the newcomers leaned over and raised his rifle. On the opposite side of the trench O’shui did the same. Both of them let rip once again. O’shui signalled to the remainder of the scratch squad that it was clear to continue. Running down the narrowed trench a chaos space marine leapt out all guns blazing, His horrible accuracy meant they were safe for the moment. Upon his return the chaos marine was met with pulse fire and was killed. As he fell to the ground he unknowingly fired what was left in his magazine and managed to shred the armour of the nearest firewarrior.
Dragging himself to his feet the firewarrior pointed forwards and lead the way round a bend towards the rear exit of the Orca and the command bunker. Just a little more than 50 metres away they encountered the first real load of traitors and mutants. A score of them blocked the route to the command bunker. Also just 3 metres in front of them was another 2 scores awaiting orders. The lead firewarrior wasted no time and opened up on the unsuspecting mutants massacring all of them in a hail of blue bolts of death. Those in front of the rear guard turned to meet a solid wall of pulse fire. Almost all of them were killed twice over. The remaining 2 were wounded severely and incapacitated.
They continued their march towards home dispatching the odd wondering mutant before they encountered the wreckage of a rhino transport vehicle obscuring the way to the command bunker. Lying just outside the trench were the bodies of 6 firewarriors bodies riddled with holes curtesy of bolters possibly from a squad of chaos space marine’s maybe a horde of traitors. As they cautiously left the trench they realised whatever had managed to massacre these innocent Tau beings had left and continued on its bloody rampage. They gathered the dead warriors weapons and stole anything they could use to create havoc among the chaos host. On the other side of the trench lay a broadside horribly crumpled. Around it lay 4 scores of mutants and 6 chaos space marines littered with mortal wounds and bullet holes.
Now running at full pace they followed the trail of dead. Both sides had inflicted a lot of damage but it appeared the Tau were on top. Reaching the command bunker the squad was horrified to see it empty. They jumped onto the Orca and stood atop the left wing. The battle had been won although they were to die. The rest of the Tau had either been left for dead or were on there way back to the spaceport. In the distance they saw a gloomy figure. It was the last of the firewarriors leaving.
They had been left behind. No one knew they were alive. Hearing a loud and distinctive noise O’sah looked behind him. It was another chaos space marine thunderhawk ready to sweep aside the remnants. Knowing he was to die, O’sah readied his weapon and those with him as they prepared to sell their lives for the greater good.
Hmm kind of weird considering i have so little knowledge of the tau.
sweet az bro, its so discriptive i can easily picture the carnage in my mind. The writing is a bit more technical than poetic but we each have our own style.
