When moving its ok to shoot out of the top hatch and then assault the same turn as after shooting the vehicle counts as being open topped. Is this just for enemy shooting or can you assault as well?

You cant assault as well. You have to disembark during the movement phase, at which point the vehicle is NOT opentopped.
You cant assault from within the vehicle.

Dam!@#$%^&*(I) Ok thanks silas i just wanted to know before some of my mates (particularly necron players) have me on about it. I thought it was to good to be true

You can only assault if the vehicle is a Land Raider or its variants like the Crusader. If it couldn't, then the frag launchers on the Crusader would be useless.

Any open topped vehicle too Dark. That's why he was wondering about the chimera, since it has the rule to become open topped.

Yes true but i was wondering whether it only counted as open topped for the purpose of enemy shooting but in background sense it would be easy just jump over the side and stab whatever happens to be underneath you.
