Title: Tau Space Marine Mercinaries

Shas'el Broughy - October 6, 2004 09:00 PM (GMT)
I was orignally going to have Catachan Auxiliarie reserves but they only hit other humans on a 3+, but then i thought i could have space marine mercinaries who would like to fight "For The Greater Good"

Could this work?

Silas - October 6, 2004 09:17 PM (GMT)
No this would not work. Unless they were chaos marines.

Imperial Space Marines are too deeply indoctrinated with their beliefs to turn against the Emperor. They would never join the Tau except for maybe a brief alliance to kill...Tyranids probably, considering where the Tau Empire is.

Actually Chaos Space Marines wouldn't really work either. Why would they fight for the Tau when there's nothing in it for them. And Silas is right, the Space Marines are too loyal to the Emperor to join the Tau.

I think some Chaos Marines would do i just to fight the Imperium later.

Oh, and because it would annoy the Imperium.

And just thought of some normal Marines that might ally with Tau; The Fallen. The Fallen arent chaos or imperial. They are a mystery.

Yes Silas has a point. The Fallen would work since as he said, are a mystery and could be pursueing their own agendas while allying with the Tau.

Search for Dark Angels. The Fallen are usually mentioned amoung their background

See if you can get a hold of the Index Astartes with the Dark Angels background in. Its a really interesting read as well as giving info on the Fallen.

LotD would work aswell, they are said to just show up in fights and tend to fight against 'nids. I have the rules in WD but i dont have a digicam so i cant post it on here... :(

Shas'el Broughy - October 12, 2004 06:21 PM (GMT)
I was Considering LOTD then i found a good way to make fallen marines by using Dark angels verteran marines with chaos shoulder pads and back packs

Hmm so what youre saying is youre making an army that is like we fight for the highest bidder? Kind of like mengils manflayers. Another option is to have a chaos army with tau renegades in it???

I was reading the original post again and was thinking.

The only reason you want the marines is to avoid the penalties the guardsmen get?

Is the "greater good" and powergaming ideology?
