Title: GW hates eldar
emperors champion akeris - October 6, 2004 10:54 AM (GMT)
The good eldar army includes wave serpents, of course, it's the best transport in the game, WRONG. i rarely see eldar with wave serpents, wanna know why? GW hates eldar, or else they would make the goddamn wave serpent themselves, but no, they'd rather have forge world charge exorbitant prices for them, i have a freind who will never be able to play eldar because he'll never be able to buy wave serpents and the rest of his army, he really likes eldar too. but what, you say, about the falcon? well, personally I think 6 Man assault squads suck, but that's just me.
The Confessor - October 6, 2004 06:40 PM (GMT)
Not only that, but 4th edition has made Eldar even worse than before imo.
The worth of Guardian squads is in their extremely over-priced heavy weapon platform. In 4th edition, the Eldar's advantage is being able to shoot their pellet guns twice and still charge, putting their heavy weapon in assault, and out of action.
For assault, forget banshees ( I'm assuming thats what he'd be transporting ), a hawk exarch with sustained assault can cause serious damage to heavily armored troops. Infiltrating Striking scorpions ( very exensive ) could be used against more lightly armored troops, or without infiltrate or exarch if they are only filling a counter-charge roll.
I think the falcon is meant to transport wraithguard+exarch.
I dunno

No no no... Soon GW will have a wave serpent in a boxed set and the 'overpriced' hoeavy weapons platform is there to make up for the fact of the strength of the weapon and the availability of the troops that power it.
P.S. I am a long-standing eldar-player and enjoy the overall balance of the army, however, my eldar are of the alaitoc craftworld so they dont tend to take wave serpents... just sit there... shooting...
The Confessor - October 6, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
I haven't played yet, I just read my codexes and stuff so thats all I can base my opinions off of. :D
I don't see the strength of the weapons platforms. Their only advantage is being able to move and shoot. A starcannon is 50pts and will only kill 1.2 marines per turn, I can't see them earning their points back especialy against cheaper troops.
The only way I can see them being redeemed, is if the shuriken cannon takes on the new assault cannon's stats or if the platforms fired with BS 4.

Why did you copy Kaerg Reborn's words and thread to this forum? At least say it in your own words. Don't just copy and paste someone else's. <_< I stand by what I said on this copied thread on AP: GW should make Wave Serpents for the Eldar. Taking Falcons for transports isn't cheap for transport-heavy armies. Didn't GW used to make Wave Serpents?
emperors champion akeris - October 7, 2004 06:34 AM (GMT)
1. i cant say it any better
2. He is right they do get worse
3. I cant put it any different in my own words it would just be pointless.
4. What i thought was basically in his thread so whats the point in changing it?
Im not to sure about used to making them but i doubt it because whoever told them to stop needs a bullet.
dark angel 17 - October 7, 2004 11:10 PM (GMT)
Well...whatever. Anyway I do believe they did used to make them. Forgeworld didn't come into existance before the Wave Serpent I don't think. I have a friend who burned the turret thing on the Falcon to the core and converted it. Looks just like the pictures in Forgeworld.

With my eldar, I cant do much except send in cannon fodder and keep my heavy support back. The tanks are too expensive and I jsut recently bought a Fire Prism. Something that has come to my attention is that the GW I go to never has much eldar stuff and they NEVER have Farseer Councils!
As an eldar player I find swooping hawks and Dark Reapers the best. The swooping hawks are a good effective unit and if you place a Barahoth in the squad your set with a good assault/Range squad. Ive noticed that the main unit that gets screwed up is my guardians <_< . Also the guns are too damn weak! I had a 2v2 game. Eldar and nids (like that would ever happen) vs Chaos and Necrons. The nids and eldar had no tank units and chaos had a land raider while necrons had their main god! and the necron player also used a few SM and had a tank! The only thing that could damage the tanks were the genestealers which were wiped out and the only thing that could fight the necron god the Nightbringer was my farseer with his mind war power. He was charged down and slaughtered. We were basicly screwed for we could do nothing vs the tanks and night bringer!

The fire prism is an anti character tank. It has good range and low ap gun. It has typical low armour like most eldar tanks. At least you will wipe out some stuff with it.
Dark angel-
Why would they stop making them? That sounds kind of stupid doesnt it.
Erokose - October 8, 2004 11:04 PM (GMT)
Yeah crap armor but good range and attack, My army is mainly heavy support so I will be wiping out a fair few things. If anyone wanted to know the stats of a Prisim cannon its AP2 strenght 8 and small blast template.
The Confessor - October 9, 2004 08:32 AM (GMT)
With a targeting matrix, the fire prism can hop out from behind cover, fire, miss, and scoot back to a small amount of safety.
The fire prism is over-priced, with the new rules, the template must be centered over a model, so you'll likely only hit one or two ( if what I've heard is right). Combine that with BS 3, and you end up needing a guiding ( expensive ) Farseer for it to have an impact.
I looked back through my codex, and something I think that was overlooked on the Falcon is the Pulse Laser. The pulse laser alone makes it equal in firepower to the Fire Prism ( unless your opponent clusters his expensive units), with added room for another over-priced weapon.
I think that eldar vehicles should be upped to BS 4, since right now the wraithlord seems to be the end-all be-all heavy support choice.
emperors champion akeris - October 9, 2004 09:24 AM (GMT)
Yeh that seems kind of stupid. Just thinking giving the wraithlord starcannons and blasting away should be the main perogative.

Yeah if you want to post a thread by someone else just say something like: Originally posted by Kaereg Reborn on AP. Also the following links were in that thread posted by Seph so here ya go :)

It is coming. Patience young Padawan
The Confessor - October 11, 2004 04:34 PM (GMT)
Is it me, or is that identical to the Falcon?
Or are those proxied as serpents and I'm just slow
war mammoth - October 11, 2004 05:16 PM (GMT)
By the end of the year (i am told) wave serpents will be out in a boxed set along with the new eldar codex which should be coming out late march '05.
Falcons are more or less wave serpents but wave serpents have:
Less guns
The front is joined up (in eldar technology this means that the 2 main engines are linked allowing it to have more power and thus go faster)
And the thrusters at the back are bigger (more 'vroom' )

Not being an Eldar player, I'm not sure when or why they stopped making them. But I do believe they were made back in the day because I think I have seen the boxes for them. It might have been the old Falcon box but I'm not sure.
Vampy - October 13, 2004 12:01 PM (GMT)
I know they definitely made them for Epic but I can't remember them for 40k. However, the important thing is that they are going to be made. Just in time aswell as me and Morray are starting an Eldar army soon. Might be doing one together :D
