Title: rulebook

Does anyone think that the new rulebook is worth as much as it is sold for. Wipdy doo its colour (well most of it) and it is hardcover. I think its a waste of money. If i need it ill photocopy it.
I also think that some of rules are a bit off whack.

What does everyone else think of it?

I've already had the rules discussion on druchii.net here. So you can look there and read mine and many other views.

As for the book itself, well...its better then the old rule book in that it is colour, contains better fluff and is hardback, and its only £5 dearer...hmm...worth it in my opinion.

I reackon the rules are a bit fu%#ed as well, they sound weird. As for the colour, unless your a complete and utter moron and all you do it look at the pages, woopde doo! Colour......Its just colour its not like it doesn't cost them an extra 5c so they carge like an extra $15.

I quite like looking at the models, they give me inspiration for my own conversions. And i dont like black and white artwork...

As for the price they charge £5 (just 5 not 15) more. It costs them an extra 5p per page. Since the book is 265 pages it costs them an extra £13 something...

Yes, but the england dollar is triple the australian dollar, so when its an extra 5 pounds for you guys its an extra 15 dollars for us. I agree with the colour thing, its just that they charge so much more money just to have colour.

Most of the new stuff in the new rulebook you can find in the PDF files off GW's site but I like having it in one big book instead of loads of clippings. As for the price compared to the 3rd Ed. book, I'd say it's porportional. Tons of pages are in color and it's in hardback, which is quite useful to give a new face to sore losers. :D

A couple of things; 1. its the england POUND. 2. if english is triple the australian currency then wouldnt it be an extra $1.66 for you to our extra £5? I think you got that wrong.

In any case the exchange rate makes NO difference. It costs GW over here an extra £13 to print the colour pages and they raise the price of the book £5.
Over in australia it would cost them an extra $39 and they only raise the price $15. So they are NOT charging more money just to have colour. They are charging an under appropriate amount (which is odd for GW and good for them for once!). Plus you are paying for the hardback and most hardback books cost double that of a paperback, so technically it should cost (over here) £50 as opposed to its £30.

@dark angel 17; the pdf's on the GW site actually DONT contain most of the new rules, they contain about half of them. And about 25% of the rules they do contain are wrong.

Sorry for taking GW's side, but someones got to, especially when they are RIGHT for once. Why should we gamers always complain when they cock up and never congratulate them for doing something right?

Lol if it costs that much more to print they must have really been flogging us before. Theyre probably still flogging us now but well we just dont care and buy the merchandise anyway.

 how about we read our codex's spartian. Also if anyone has F.A.Q's about what happens in game terms to our armies it would be great because the rules might as well be explained in jibberish i cant understand half of them.

I reckon the new rulebook is worth what they priced it at. As for the colour i dont see anything wrong with it. Its a good idea that they made most of it colour so you can get ideas when painting your own models :P

YEH every1 read there codex before buying the rule book so you understand your army with the new rules.
