Title: New armies having a huge advantage over old ones
emperors champion akeris - August 5, 2004 10:16 AM (GMT)
I think 2 of the most disadvantaged armies in fantasy are high and dark elves. They are fast and fragile and thats nothing nowadays. The DE went through an update lately but i think these armies arent advertised in the white dwarf, nor are they sold in GW stores enough :o
Do you think fantasy as well, needs a total review to make all armies even once again <_<

I kinda disagree with you here. All armys have their disadvantages, its just the way you use them that makes the difference. ;)
Im eager to see what others think! <_<

Yeh i do have a bit of a bias opinion. I think really before they re released the chaos, they should have revitalised all armies aswell.
Just think though, what chance do dark elves have in a direct combat with dwarves. I mean not all of us have a budget that can afford dark riders and cold ones.
Also high elves i have never seen them win. They just seem to cost way to many points for what they are capable of.
Well easily the most advantegous armies at the moment are brettionians and chaos becuase they have just released them and so people have been given the knowledge on how to play them via the whte dwarf.
Silas - August 5, 2004 10:54 AM (GMT)
Excuse me!?! Dark Elves and High Elves are disadvantaged?!? really? are you new in this game?
Lets see. The Elves major advantage is speed. And believe me, in a game of warhammer that is one of the most important things. Flank and rear charges are devastating if pulled off correctly. The ability to run rings around your opponant is amazing.
Proof they are not disadvantaged; at Conflict London 2003 it was a Dark Elf player (Who frequents Druchii.net) who came first. In the top 10 was another 3 Dark Elf players. If they are disadvantaged then how did they get that high?
For more people to argue for the cause head to
Druchii.net

Hmm well asunking you can outrun your opponent. I do think that dark elves arent meant for head to head combat. Oh and how often do they win when a flank charge doesnt work i mean come on obviously they arent gonna throw themselves at dwarves so it is a little predictable.
Darmort - August 7, 2004 12:10 PM (GMT)
HELLO! Dark Elves not good?!? are you out of your mind?!? I play Dark Elves and I almost always win! High Elves I know nought of but the Druchii are my favorites from the 5th edition! you insult Druchii again i'll post my battle reports here and then you'll be sorry, or maybe my fluff, I love DE!
and I never get to flank charge, I face Vampire Counts and Skaven a lot
CHAOS GOD666! - August 7, 2004 12:13 PM (GMT)
Well Darmort, please do post some of your battle reports in the battle reports section. It does need a few fresh topics in there.
Id love to read some. ;)
Darmort - August 7, 2004 12:22 PM (GMT)
OK ChaosGod, i'll post some fluff story ones, but beware, I have bad grammer, mwahahahaha
emperors champion akeris - August 8, 2004 08:39 AM (GMT)
Ok well the reason you are annoyed at me is because you are looking at this topic from a very biast opinion. Sure they are awesome (thats why i have started) but i dont see how head to head elves could win.
I mean they are fragile. I think my point was a little (just a little) off but i still think they are a little disadvantaged because of the lack of tactics, battle reports and chronicles.
I looked through my collection of white dwarves (2 and a half years worth) and found 5 of them contained useful stuff on dark elves.
I regret on my opinions because i was a little annoyed by how it was impossible to find info for them in Aussie white dwarves.
Silas - August 17, 2004 11:39 AM (GMT)
Um...Druchii do NOT fight head to head. Of course they will lose that sort of fight. But that is not their way of fighting. Head to head meatgrinders are for chaos, dwarves and orcs.
Elves prefer the subtlety, that is the way their units are designed.
emperors champion akeris - August 20, 2004 10:17 AM (GMT)
Silas ill ask you because you are experienced. Because you live in another country, do dark elves get any WD coverage?
It pityful in Australia they dont even have the entire range in stock in the Games workshopstores :(
Silas - August 20, 2004 10:42 AM (GMT)
Besides the fact that the Cult of Pleasure have been in the last few WD's...yes.
They had a battle report v Chaos and High Elves this year. There's been the odd few painting and modeling things about them.
Either late last year or early this year (cant remember exactly) they have had a great chunk of fluff added about their war against the High Elves.
Also the special character Shadowblade has been released.
I'd say they have had as much coverage as any other race (excluding Chaos, which happen to be GW's favourites and so get everything...)
emperors champion akeris - August 20, 2004 10:57 AM (GMT)
Yeh they only seem to get coverage in between new armies and i think its pathitic. Th slaanesh cult thing doesnt really count as its not really dark elves. I think its due to popularity as dark elves aint very popular in aussie.
Silas - August 20, 2004 11:12 AM (GMT)
Well they cant get coverage as a new army now can they? So of course they are only getting coverage inbetween new armies...
Erokose - September 4, 2004 12:13 AM (GMT)
I think the tomb kings can be pretty weak, if you don't have the right guys you get annhilated.
Silas - September 4, 2004 04:18 PM (GMT)
Well it all depends on the player. A good tactician can win with the TKs.
I personally think that the TKs are a great army with an interesting background (but then egyptology is a hobby of mine...) and some really characterful (and hard) units.
emperors champion akeris - September 5, 2004 09:58 AM (GMT)
You get annihalated with the wrog guys in every army??? I think tomb kings are a great army but need to rely on their superior magic.
Thgey do have some hard units but i dont think their cavalry or chariots are up to standard. They did practically nothing in the Last WD battle report.
Silas - September 5, 2004 12:29 PM (GMT)
Again it depends how they are used. I think my chariots are wicked! I only have 3 but they zoom about the battlefield annoying everyone!
A pottential 24" charge is fantastic :D
They dont really need to rely on their magic, and its not really superior, just relentless.
Scarab swarms and Tomb Scorpions are the bees knees! Brilliant capabilities for their points.
emperors champion akeris - September 6, 2004 10:05 AM (GMT)
Again using knowledge of poor tactics. Scarabs and scorpians are great units but the opponent will dedicate something with the ptential to kill the unit with ease so they dont harass the crew of your ranged weapons and artillery.
These need to be placed in a safe position (scarabs) or need to come out t the right time in the case of the scorpians.
Silas - September 6, 2004 11:15 AM (GMT)
The scarabs can come out of the ground as well. And if the oponant places units to defend against the scarabs and tomb scorpion then, even if they dont turn up, they have effectively done their job by taking out of the battle the units set to stop them.
They are guarding against the scarabs and so not taking part in the main battle, if they leave to take part in the main battle then the scarabs and scorpion are free to annoy people.
Plus many people forget about the fact that scorpions and things can come out of the ground and forget to defend against it.
Erokose - September 6, 2004 12:36 PM (GMT)
I versed two people with my tomb kings 2vs1. I had atlease a 1000 pts more and They won.
