Title: 40k is out of hand

emperors champion akeris - August 3, 2004 09:47 AM (GMT)
I think that my opinions are a bit out there sometimes but just think about what i say.

The imperial guard game terms are formidable but in the background which i think has been written by someone that has never seen a rulebook or codex because they never win a battle without losing whole regiments. I mean if they suck so bad whats the point in throwing 4000 people in that are just going to kill about 50 chaos marines anyway.

Also, they rant on chaos this, chaos that but the chaos dont do jack, the minions do everything and the black legion takes credit for it.

Also there are totally immortal beings that just stuffs everything about deamons that ever appealed to me. I mean you kill something and it just comes back bigger and better.

If i were in charge of GW there would be some serious sackings because theyre sending out pictures that are completely incorrect.

Exactly, why fight when you can sacrifice prisoners, traitors and other pesky things. I like what chaos is doing eg: in the Eye of Terror when orkz were given guns and weapons by chaos and they went around from planet to planet securing sectors with out chaos loosing anything. Chaos marines/black legion is needed other places in battle so they use anything they can scroungle and throw it at the enemy. (some times it works, sometimes it doesnt). :D

Also i see where your coming from with your idea about GW, but i think that the Fluff is quite good, it could have some extra work but its pretty damn good to me.
About cadians loosing regiments to kill 50 CSMs, how else are they going to defend themselves?
Thanx!

emperors champion akeris - August 3, 2004 10:44 AM (GMT)
How else but with tanks

They should screw troops and make tanks and blow chaos to bits.

Oh and theyshould clone space marines by millions :D

Quite obviously you have never read Imperial Guard background. Try the Gaunt's Ghosts series.

Sure they lost alot in Necropolis but that was because of the size of the battle. However there are some; Honour Guard, The Guns of Tanith, where a single weakend regiment takes on an army over twice their size and wins. Or small squads enter enemy territory on an assaination mission (thats a pretty decent book).

There are other books, such as the Last Chancer series, that also disprove what you said.

emperors champion akeris - August 5, 2004 11:11 AM (GMT)
Hmmm well what i was saying is there is a growing difference between the good and bad. Good is getting slaughtered and bad is rampaging.

Silas - August 17, 2004 11:10 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry but i fail to see where you are getting this opinion from.

It swings either way. More often then not it is a close fought draw.

Proof;

1st war of Armageddon,
Eye of Terror campaign,
Sabbat Worlds Campaign,
Space wolf books,
13th Legion books,
Gaunts Ghosts books,
Grey Knights,
Deathwatch,
Eisonhorn Trilogy

All point to the fact that the battle between good and evil is close, but often the imperials win.

emperors champion akeris - August 17, 2004 11:23 AM (GMT)
Hmmmm.... i know this but its the little battles in between where imperial forces get caught unawares and get annihalated.

The heroes of the imperium do their bit but its the scum of chaos worthless that wittle down these heroes. Whilst the villians of chaos do nothing and when the 2 mighty armies clash the imperium loses out because they have been whittled down by worthless traitors.

Silas - August 17, 2004 11:33 AM (GMT)
Note the words you used; 'caught unawares'. Its very hard NOT to get annihalated when caught unawares.

Generally the small battles do not make much of a difference to effect the major wars. The Imperium is too big. Sure certain things can cause them loads of problems, for example losing an important arms manufactory (such as Armageddon) would cripple them. But for them to lose such a place there would be a big war (such as all three wars for Armageddon) and not little battles.

emperors champion akeris - August 20, 2004 11:13 AM (GMT)
I know good point. If the imperium is a dozen eggs, so far maybe only one has been lost. But the little are chipping away at the space marines who are vital to he imperiums survival as they must save the guard from death. It may be just a monitoring satelite but it all counts towards the defeat of the imperium.

Erokose - September 7, 2004 10:59 AM (GMT)
The only thing I find out of hand is that eldar, chaos space, and space have 23-25 choics for troops the rest have 7-17.....

Oblivious - September 9, 2004 07:03 AM (GMT)
thats probably because they are the favourite armies

Erokose - September 9, 2004 08:07 AM (GMT)
Well I know Space marines are a favourite and chaos, but eldar, hardly anyone plays them.

Well I know Space marines are a favourite and chaos, but eldar, hardly anyone plays them.

It depends the area you are. In some areas there are lots of marine players but few of the other races. In other areas there are a lot of Eldar or Ork armies but few of the others.
Sometimes there is an average amount of players to each army.

I run a club here in merry ol' england and we have;

1 Blood Angel player,
1 Space wolf player,
3 Necron players,
2 Iron Warriors players,
3 Eldar players,
1 Thousand Sons player,
1 Orks players,
4 Imperial Guard players,
2 Grey Knight players,
1 Tau player,
1 Ultramarine player,
1 Dark Eldar player.

So, i dont really think Eldar are rare...

Bolivious - September 9, 2004 12:23 PM (GMT)
i agree with silas you cant just say hardly any one you know plays eldar. You have to think about how many million or so people actually play warhammer.

dark angel 17 - September 10, 2004 12:53 AM (GMT)
Actually it does depend on where you live. Over here in sunny California, we have loads of Eldar, SM, and CSM players. But we lack in Orks and 'Nids. I've only played 3 games against the Orks and 2 games against the 'Nids at my local GW.

Erokose - September 10, 2004 02:32 AM (GMT)
At my local GW there is hardly any chaos, 1 eldar player, no dark eldar players except me, lots of sm and Imperial guard, and hadly any nids or orks. And only one Necron player who goes there rarely.

Bolivious - September 10, 2004 06:46 AM (GMT)
you cant really say ure local gw cause its an hour away(thats on a train) and you hardly ever go there so how would you know wich people play wich teams

Erokose - September 10, 2004 10:28 AM (GMT)
Maybe because Ive been there much more then you, I play with those people, and that is as local as it comes.

emperors champion akeris - September 10, 2004 10:39 AM (GMT)
Actaually the only armies that i have seen little of are vanhallans, steel legion and maybe a little less of the tallarn armies. These armies require lots of money and a lot of metal figurines.
Otherwise ive seen them all and even more. Ive even seen a warhound titan. Very big and very cool.

Erokose - September 10, 2004 10:42 AM (GMT)
Ive never seen one but I know they look really cool, whats the stats for one anyway?

Silas - September 10, 2004 10:49 AM (GMT)
My local GW has a warhound titan around. I think its some kinda mascot (or pet, i've seen some of the staff try to feed it cookies...). Sometimes its on the counter, other times its in a display cabinet at the front, and sometimes its in the front window display.

More often then not its in a display that it doesnt belong in i.e. Elves and Dwarves fighting at its feet...

Not sure what the rules are for it as i've never seen them.

emperors champion akeris - September 10, 2004 11:12 AM (GMT)
It is armed with a turbo laser destroyer and a plasma blast gun. Find the stats and stuuf about it on forgeworld titan

Bolivious - September 11, 2004 12:14 AM (GMT)
what army does this Warhound Titan belong to

Silas - September 11, 2004 01:06 PM (GMT)
The Warhound Titan is Imperium. Mostly used by the Imperial Guard but marines have been known to use them.

Bolivious - September 11, 2004 11:18 PM (GMT)
Thanks for telling me, i dont really know much about specail units or all the teams because when i get my army im just going to focus on it and not all the other teams.

Erokose - September 12, 2004 05:01 AM (GMT)
Has any body ever heard of a pheonix or phantom titan, it belongs to eldar, I was just wondering if they still exsist.

emperors champion akeris - September 12, 2004 10:09 AM (GMT)
Basically every seige capable army has some form or equivelent to a titan. Chaos use titans and other variants of seige weapons mostly defilers and tanks bigger and better than them. The orks have a big construct called a gargent and a thing not sure what it happens to be called a seige fortress used on armageddon.

Im not too sure about those wreched little eldar or any other forces.

Bolivious - September 13, 2004 05:46 AM (GMT)
So are all these titans like the monolith that the necrons get or are they completely different types of siege?

The Confessor - September 13, 2004 06:57 AM (GMT)
Eldar have Phantom Titans, Spectres and Shades.

They're armed with pulse lasers, disruption cannons, and vibro cannons metink.

Thanks for that, would you be able to tell me how tall is stands, I know it is pretty damn big but not sure how big, so any assitance on that issue would be greatly apprciated.

emperors champion akeris - September 13, 2004 09:36 AM (GMT)
A monolith isnt anywhere near the size of a titan. Some of the larger titan could crush a monolith by standing on it. Also some of the weaponry on these machines could easily wipe out a great deal of a 1500pt army.

Bolivious - September 13, 2004 10:21 AM (GMT)
well ive seen a Monolith and they are massive so who bloody big are these titans?

Bolivious - September 13, 2004 10:22 AM (GMT)
i meant to say HOW big are they not who big are they sorry!!

emperors champion akeris - September 13, 2004 10:37 AM (GMT)
Theyre huge. A artillery shell would be lucky to make it fall on its knees. These B*stards are big and nasty. If you look in the CHoas codex there is a colour page with the black legion wasting soem cadianns. The biggest and nastiest machine is a titan.

Silas - September 13, 2004 11:33 AM (GMT)
Model size a titan is 10.5" tall (just measured one).

As for the eldar titans, what The Confessor said is correct, except the models dont exist yet. They currrently only exist in fluff. So far Forge World has only produced a Warhound Titan, a Chaos Warhound Titan, Barbed Hierodule (Tyranid version of a titan), a Sythed Hierodule (another 'nid titan) and an ork Gargant.

I believe there are plans to do a Warlord Titan, the eldar titans and an Emperors Warlord Titan (which will be bloody huge since its about twice the size of a Warhound (the current imperial titan available) in the fluff).

Bolivious - September 13, 2004 12:16 PM (GMT)
so these titans are like the size of a 30cm ruler? well let me be the first to say HOLY CR*P!!!

how much do these guys cost?

Money? Or points?

Money a Warhound Titan costs £275. Its a fantastic model though.

Dont know how many points

emperors champion akeris - September 14, 2004 09:37 AM (GMT)
Titans for us here in australia cost over 600$$$.

They are around the same size as a thunderhawk lying down and are made from highly detailed resin.

There are a few other things made that are smaller than titans but just as detailed and expernsive.

Bolivious - September 14, 2004 09:56 AM (GMT)
Ive seen some resin models but are you actually allowed to use these models in battles?

i mean are you allowed to use resin models!

Silas - September 14, 2004 10:17 AM (GMT)
Yes you can use them in your games if you can find the rules for them. I believe the titan rules are on the Forgeworld website. Not entirely sure though.
