Just getting things moving here as this is a new forum and i was wondering what do people think of Lotr. Personally i think its cheap and nasty and the sooner it goes down the toilet the better.

I just dont like the awkwardness of the poses and the hassle of converting such a basic model.

Also they arent strong as i stood on one of my space marines and only the marine fell of its base whilst i kick a man of gondor and its now in 3 bits.

Well the miniatures are cool but could be better, i like the lotr game as it gives a good feeling seeing the characters on a board. I like the riders of rohan and faramirs rangers as they have a real feel of culture to them. I enjoy painting the lotr minis more then gaming with them the gaming side of its just a extra bonus for me.

Lets face it although the concept was great..GW are just making money with this one.

It is simply a money maker. The rules were badly thought out, the models were all right though. The biggest problem is that you have to make a new table for each new game. And those new artillery models.... I could knock up stuff better than those with balsa wood.

It is hateful. It is worse than the normal commercialism that GW does. Also, it is designed for kiddies. If that is not enough, deagostini did a thing of it.

I have to agree that i found it too basic so i chose not to clooect it.

The bottom line is really that GW has cashed in on the films(and very successfully as well).

It is to limited to be classed as a proper table top battle game.....but now it is at an end,maybe GW will spend more time on the updates for the 40k stuff which is long over due.

I never even considered it. But i would like to convert some models for use with my WH dwarfs.

One thing i really hate about the gameplay is the roll in CC so that the WS or what ever its called only counts when a roll of the same numbers comes up, other then that its luck. :rolleyes:

It drives me mad,all that wasted space.....they could have put the rules up date in there.

It is nice and cheap, the models are cool, but most of it that is in the film gets a bit boring after a while when things don't happen the way they are supposed to.

No, a lot are quite good (Riders of Rohan) but all of them are very limited, at most you can choose how to add an arm. This sucks next to WH or 40k models with free-form components.

But the bottom line is as a whole the figures are poor,the game play is limited and restrictive,and GW make far to much money out of this!!!!! :angry:
