I love the Onion AV Club's occasional Random Roles pieces, and the latest with the surprisingly candid Teri Garr may be the best yet.

Random Roles--Teri Garr

Thanks for pointing this out, Marty! Great interview, with typically classic stuff from Teri.

Boy I had a huge crush on her when I was a kid. I think I taped every interview she did on Letterman from '82 up through '89 or so (quite a feat, considering she seemed to be on every two weeks).

As for spotting her in the Elvis movie - I hate to say it, but I usually could by looking for the girl that was out of sync with everyone else. "Hey, that girl's out of step! Is it? Yep, that's her!"

A thank you too from me, Marty, for that interview with Garr---I've always liked her myself, and came to view her as a marvelously offbeat comic actress over the years. That was a VERY honest, candid, and funny as hell interview. I guess she figures that as long as she's been in the business, she can say what the hell she wants (and she's certainly been around long enough to). Nice to know that her health is much better and that's she's back in the biz. She's definitely on point about how women's roles in Hollywood used to be. Worth watching out for is an underrated dark comedy she did back in 1989 titled OUT COLD co-starring John Lithgow---she gets to play a real scheming femme fatale for a change.
