Title: Fangoria's Asia Argento Interview (May edition)

Victor Boston - May 14, 2008 02:39 PM (GMT)
I just received my May Fango subscription in the post and the Asia interview is a real eye opener. Her interviewee stance is as naked and unabashed as her on-screen persona. I especially enjoyed her comments on the J T Leroy backlash. She's just jumped a few more points on my "impress-me" meter.

What's the JT Leroy backlash?

She wrote the screenplay for her HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS movie based on his (semi)-autobiographical writings and LeRoy was ultimately revealed to be a pseudonym for a musician/writer Laura Albert and it all went downhill from there. Worth checking out the story but it's probably a bit off-topic for here. Again, it's a fine interview (penned by Alan Jones) worth seeking out so I just thought I'd flag it for my fellow Mobians.

Couldn't agree w/ you more. Pretty much a fraud to make herself to this mythical character, if you will. And though I enjoyed the movie, it kind of took the "ummp" out of it, after the truth came out.

How dare than person to mislead the most beautiful woman (in my opinion, of course), on the Independent movie scene today. But nonetheless, she played a great part. And, I'm sure it's known among Asia fans, she had (I think she beat those Demons for now), her little time w/ drugs & alcohol. So that made her even better for the role, (even though the story itself was all muchly a hoak), since she's been there, and not had to read/study other addicts & their behaviors to make the part look "genuine", or really prepare for her role. I thought she was really genuine. But than again, this is coming from a man obsessed w/ the women from TRAUMA on, and even went so far as to go to NYC to her movie premeire of SCARLET DIVA, and was lucky enough to have had her sign a 6"x10" glossy photo of hers. :D
