Earlier today, I saw Marin Karmitz's BLOW FOR BLOW, a semi-documentary chronicle of a strike at a provinicial sweatshop, at the Walter Reade's "1968" series. Karmitz is best-known these days as a producer and owner of a chain of French theaters; I think this may be his only directorial credit. However, the audience was more memorable than the film - at least one particular audience member. I'm not sure if he's a sincere leftist or sarcastic conservative, although I'm leaning towards the latter. He cheered at key moments, as well as throwing out comments like "Capitalist bastards!" and "Stalinist slime!" This seemed all the weirder because there were only about 10 people in the audience.
