I think I may have finally given up on even trying to watch or keep up with this show.

Doomsday?!!!

It's not surprising, given that this was going to be the final year; like a lot of shows, it got a writer's-strike reprieve, and seven years is about as much as most actors want to commit to a series. I like Rosenbaum but the show has done as much as it could do with their pre-Superman dynamic and the permutations have worn pretty thin; the recent patricide (exit John Glover, who I'll miss more) is almost too strong for the program to handle comfortably, and sidelining Luthor in favor of new blood might not be the worst idea. Funny; there are better shows that I watch, which frustrate me more when they go wrong, but I'll always give SMALLVILLE the benefit of the doubt. It does, however, need a strong "grownup" presence to make up for the loss of Glover (and Annette O'Toole and John Schneider over seasons past).
