I just discovered that a Criterion DVD of Paul Schrader's excellent Mishima (which I would consider a Japanese film with an American director) is coming on June 17. I'm very pleased that this underappreciated film is getting the Criterion treatment. Any other fans of this film here?

Any MISHIMA fans in the Midwest may want to know that it's playing during Roger Ebert's annual film festival here in Champaign, Illinois this Friday night with Schrader and costumer Eiko Ishioka attending. Festival passes are sold out, but if you stand in line for a half hour or so before the show, you're all but ensured to get in.
