Title: Finally, THE INVADERS on DVD

Just noticed on Amazon that Season One of the original INVADERS series hits DVD on May 6th. One poster is already blowing the doom horn, citing rumors from inside studio sources that the episodes are the incomplete, syndicated versions. Wow, if that's the case, there are going to be a LOT of super-pissed off folks (myself included!). let's cross our fingers it's just a rumor!

CBS/Paramount has switched that date to May 27. According to TV Shows on DVD, the studio is aware that fans want the uncut versions, as well as the original 75-minute pilot, so let's hope. CBS/Paramount's fine work on the WILD WILD WEST, HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE sets leave me with confidence they'll do the right thing with THE INVADERS (although M:I desperately needs extras; criminy, what a waste).

This already came out in the UK, right? I would imagine the presentation will be the same. That said, I haven't read any reveiws of the UK set (which I held off buying guessing that a R1 release would appear soon after), so maybe there were complaints about it which Paramount has tried to fix?

CBS/Paramount has announced that THE INVADERS will contain extras, including interviews with Roy Thinnes, a Larry Cohen commentary, and the full-length pilot.

I'm really glad this is coming out, but that nondescript font used in the cover art is pretty uninspiring. Why couldn't Paramount have used the original "Invaders" logo instead? I've got the same complaint about the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE cover art - in fact, if you look at the Video Business ad in the TVShowsOnDVD link, THE INVADERS and M:I are the only two sets that don't use the original credits font on the cover art.
Yeah, I know, a nitpicking complaint, but it seems like such an obvious thing to do, I can't imagine what the designers were thinking.

It's about time; this will look great sitting on my DVD shelf sandwiched between THE OUTER LIMITS and Gerry Anderson's UFO! :)
