Title: CONTEMPT on TCM
Description: why did they even bother?

There's a thread on imdb about it, but in short, did anyone catch TCM's airing of CONTEMPT late Sunday night/early Monday morning? I recorded it and was about to watch it before work only to find it's a dubbed, pan & scan version that looks worse than any ancient VHS tape that I've got stored in a box in a closet. I love TCM, but wow...they shouldn't have even shown this bootleg-quality train wreck.

I checked with TCM's programmer and he says the distributor didn't send the tape until the day before it aired and by the time the problem was discovered it was too late to make any programming changes. They're planning to replay it when an appropriate transfer is found.

Well, it is called CONTEMPT, isn't it? :) The broadcast delivered on its promise.

That's shocking considering there are anamorphic widescreen masters of the film available.
