Title: CRAZY SAFARI
Description: VCD (Joysales), but still...

Just a heads up. I was just over at Joysales, checking to see if they had gotten around to putting anything of interest out on dvd yet (meh), but I did notice that they've just released CRAZY SAFARI on VCD. You'd think this one would have rated a simultaneous dvd release.
I checked around a little and it's up for order, but no one seems to actually have any in stock yet. No info except that it's got English subs and Cantonese audio. In as much as I'd prefer a dvd, I'm gonna pick this up because it could be years before Joysales gets around to a dvd. Even so :D

I have the old Megastar/Media Asia VCD of this. Entertaining movie, but let's hope Joy Sales have improved the subs. From what I recall, they're not so easy to read, and the voice over narration (by Stephen Chow, no less, and someone else whose name I can't recall) is NOT subbed.

The other narrator is Chow's frequent collaborator Ng Man Tat and yes, hopefully they've corrected that oversight.

I have the old VCD, too -- Terry, do let us know if its worth the upgrade.
The sequel, CRAZY HONG KONG, has been available as a US DVD for a while now through Amazon, but at over $20 bucks for what looks to be a not even legit release, I've passed for the time being.

I went ahead and ordered the vcd (along with a handful of other titles from DDDHouse). It should arrive in a week or two. I'll be plugging it in immediately and will definitely note whether the narration is subbed or not.

Until I hand them the new subs for James Wong's "Key to Fortune" (a documentary about call-girls in Hong Kong), I will address the matter to Joy Sales.

Got the VCD in my hands today and lo and behold! I'm pretty sure it's the old Megastar VCD wrapped in Joy Sales/Fortune Star clothes. The narration is not subbed. The subs can't be read about a quarter of the time. The picture's okay. Sounds good. Having watched it, I don't regret buying it; it's a hoot; cartoony fun. A dvd with (in theory) all the improvements that would bring would be nice.
Tin-lun, I appreciate the offer to check-up with Joy Sales, if you were refering to the VCD, well, maybe you could ask about the dvd instead. :D
