Interesting story relating to the UK opening of
Rambo, as reported on Variety's website:
U.K. chain Odeon bars 'Rambo'According to the
BBC site it still managed to open in third place at the box office, so it seems like a pretty popular film to be refusing to show. And given the stranglehold that Odeon has over some areas in the UK (it's the only cinema within ten miles of me, though I choose not to use it much anyway) it's not likely to endear them to any
Rambo-awaiting punters either.
I imagine it'll be a profitable enough film, so is there something particular that Odeon objects to and is it using this as an excuse not to show it? Or is there a real chance that they are going to refuse to show other films from the same distributor? Curious.
