Michael Powell's THIEF OF BAGDAD (#431) will be released on May 27th as a two-disc SE with two commentaries and other goodies.

. . . not that I want to turn Mobius into The Criterion Forum, and while I love both the Malle films as well as look forward to yet another edition of THE THIEF OF BAGDAD (one could certainly have fun with this title in today's world) which will probably be better than the one that appeared on DVD a few years ago from MGM, I was kind of hoping for THE FURIES and WHITE DOG to make it this month . . .

. . . that might be considered responding to a higher calling . . . we used to have trouble keeping track of the morphine ampuls in our Phase One Medical Kits back in my day - I suppose V8 going missing is better for all concerned . . .

Those would be nice. I'd also like to see ODD MAN OUT. I hear WISE BLOOD will be early 2009.

Someone on the P&P list said recently that the only thing holding up AMOLAD was coordinating Martin Scorsese's and Thelma Schoonmaker's respective schedules to allow them to record a commentary.
