A friend forwarded this to me fromEarth Times.
"Walt Disney Home Entertainment is proud to release some of the most extraordinary treasures from the Disney vault on DVD November 11, 2008 in a limited supply. All three new two-disc sets of “Destino,” “Dr Syn, Alias the Scarecrow” and “Chronological Donald, Volume 4” will make up the eighth installment of the popular series Walt Disney Treasures, which features rarely seen footage presented with updated color and sound. "
[snip]
"“Dr Syn, Alias the Scarecrow,” which first aired as three separate episodes on Disney’s weekly TV show under the title “The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh,” was edited for theatrical releases in England and the U.S. This DVD set includes all three of the original TV episodes plus the theatrical version of the film that was released in England. Thanks for the head's up. I've always liked Patrick McGoohan but I don't remember ever seeing this one back in my WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY watching youth. I did catch one episode of it on the Disney Channel late one night, but I never saw the rest.

Is this really a Cult & Exploitation title? Seems like it should be posted on the tv board.

DR. SYN, ALIAS THE SCARECROW did play theatrically, so I'd say it's fair game here. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I've only seen it as a feature (when it used to air on the Disney Channel), not as TV episodes, which I assume are a half-hour in length?

I think that the TV episodes ran an hour each, but episodes two and three had lots of shots repeated from earlier episodes.

If my memory from more than 40 years ago is correct, the three episodes of THE SCARECROW OF ROMNEY MARSH ran on the exact same Sundays that the Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. While most of America watched The Beatles on Ed, I chose to watch the three SCARECROW episodes, a choice that pigeonholed me as a "non-conformist" to my classmates.

I believe each episode is approx 45 minutes, give or take. The feature was two episodes sandwiched together, so the 3rd I haven't seen since it was on network TV (although I guess it was on the expanded version of the VHS which seemed to slip OOP almost immediately) I think all 3 aired on the Disney Channel as part of their 'Vault Disney' programming, back when it was a decent channel, before they switched format to all-new direct-to-cable crapola.

Universal's Hammer Horror Collection has made me quite the fan of Night Creatures AKA Captain Clegg, a fun and macabre adventure with Cushing, Reed, and Romain all very enjoyable in their roles. Being Hammer, the emphasis was on action, thrills, violence, horror, cleavage, etc. (I know, how dare they!) How does the Disney version compare?
