JEFFREY ALLEN RYDELL - February 4, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
THE VIJ

Weird.

Hey, if it's half as good as the original, it'll be twice as good as most current movies.

William S. Wilson - February 5, 2008 01:48 AM (GMT)
Weird indeed as a big budget remake is coming out in Russia this year.

Richard Harland Smith - February 5, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
Based on an eponymous novel by Russian writer Nikolaj Gogol

Oh, it's back to the lib'ary for you, Nick Vivarelli!

Tim Rogerson - February 5, 2008 11:53 AM (GMT)
Reading closely, it looks as if Lee will (not unexpectedly) be doing a cameo only.

Tim Lucas - February 5, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
The only role Lee could play in the film would be as the dead girl's father -- a small part indeed, two scenes at most, but it would be excellent casting.

I see they have a Russian actress playing the dead girl -- funnily enough, Zooey Deschanel was the first actress who popped into mind when I thought of who they might get to surf through the air on a coffin lid.

I like the idea of a remake of this classic, but Robert Englund as director? Yikes! I'd be willing to bet the upcoming Russian remake will be the superior of the two, Christopher Lee notwithstanding.

Robert Englund pretty much all but confirmed that Christopher Lee is indeed playing the patriarch. A small role, yes, but a very good addition.
