Title: CASH ON DEMAND
Description: run time confusion

Maybe someone here has this Hammer rarity, or knows more info.
It seems it was released at 84 minutes but IMDB has a 66 min time, and I have heard it refered to as a 60+ min flick. After just seeing THE SNORKEL and discovering Columbia removed 16 minutes from it's duration for the US run, ( and considering what they did to THE DAMNED ), I am wondering if they got scissor happy with COD?
Having never seen it and wanting to, I am wary of getting a shortened edition( if and when I find a copy ).

I recorded CASH ON DEMAND in 1988, when it was shown by Channel 4 here in the UK.
I haven't laid hands on that tape for several years, but when I catalogued it early in the 90s, I noted a running time of 66m. Now, I don't know if that came from timing the recording itself, or from some other source (Halliwell's Film Guide, perhaps).
The film is on a list of films that DD Video here in the UK had lined up for release on DVD last year, before the company hit a sticky patch.
Last I heard, they're still working on getting it out.

I have a DVD-R of CASH ON DEMAND. According to the time counter on my dvd player, it clocks in at 76 minutes. It's PAL, so if there's the typical speed-up involved, I guess that would mean the original running time of my print is around 80 minutes?

Thanks gents. Adding to the general uncertainty regarding this film's duration, I checked the BBFC site who granted it a U certificate in 1961 citing a 88 minute and 42 second length. Looks like most copies of CASH are a few dollars short.

Perhaps I should add that my disc is sourced from an umpteenth generation videotape (it looks like ass, and dirty ass at that). So who knows what kind of speed-ups and slow-downs it has been subjected to as it has been copied and recopied before being dumped on my disc. Also, I haven't actually timed it while watching...Could the disc "fool" my player's time counter somehow?

76min 28 sec is the length of the copy I found, which I will watch soon. It seems like the same version, as it too,
looks like ass.

While no classic, CASH is more than worth a look for fans of Cushing or Andre Morell. It resembles a filmed play in many ways, or a made for TV film from the period. The plot is rather far fetched and is a rpartial e working of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, with Cushing's Scroogelike bank manager getting a lesson in both humanity and humility. There was one stand out scene ( for me ) " Take your glasses off" indeed, but this is not something I'll rush to revisit.
Both leads are excellent here, and it's fun to see PC play against type. My copy looked a bit beter while watching than the grab indicated, but it's still rough. Dialog is occasionally out of synch and there were many seconds of hi speed motion scattered through out, never during dialog either. At 77 min ( or 80 NTSC ) nothing seemed missing although the film could lose material before Andre Morell appears and it would be hard to notice ( maybe this is what's missing in the 60+ min variant ).
Now I have my sights set on THE FULL TREATMENT ( STOP ME BEFORE I KILL ) directed by Val Guest and filmed in MegaScope, although that looks like it's going to be even harder to track down (especially as I am not paying $ 25 for a grey copy ). The synopsis at TCM makes it sound like a solid Hammer pyschological thriller.
