Since the occasional mention on my part of obscure cult music covers has been met with thanks, I thought I'd mention these two little tidbits to those who care.

I've run across another cover of John Carpenter's theme from ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and it's done in the same electro style as the previous cover I found by Octagon Man. This one is by the band Legowelt and can be found on the OPENING NIGHT AT FORD'S THEATER album, titled as "Assault Theme (John Carpenter)". I like the Octagon Man better, but this is still pretty cool.

This may be better known but Los Angeles Free Music Society members Doo-Dooettes covered the theme to Fulci's ZOMBI as "Zombie" on the obscure 1981 album LOOK TO THIS which was then compiled (on disc 6) in the huge box-set LAFMS: THE LOWEST FORM OF MUSIC (10-cds). It's hard to find so you may want to check the torrent/download sights of your choice. It's worth it, a really great cover.

Finally, a little Argento note. (Spoilers for TWO EVIL EYES)

While reading THE DEDALUS BOOK OF 19TH CENTURY FRENCH HORROR I ran across an excerpt from Alphonse Royer's LES MARVAIS GARCONS (1829), the extract in the comp. being retitled "The Covetous Clerk". The ending of the story exactly replicates the fate of Harvey Keitel's character (accidental hanging while attached to a corpse). I just mention it because I don't think I've ever seen that payoff in a story before and wondered idly of Argento had read it.

That's all. Back to work everyone!

On a related note, when I saw Blondie perform in 2001 or '02 at Jones Beach, they took to the stage with Carpenter's theme from Escape From New York as musical accompaniment.
