Title: POKEMON 2007 makes Variety's top grossers
Description: Anime fans rejoice!

A cause for celebration! This week's Variety includes the annual list of 100 Top Worldwide Grossers for the year (2007). #91 is the 10th Pokemon movie, listed as POKEMON 2007 (the actual title is POKEMON MOVIE 10: DIALGA VS. PALKIA VS. DARKRAI, but that's another story). Not a bad way to celebrate the anime franchise's tenth anniversary.

#92 on the list is NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Both it and POKEMON grossed $44 million. Not a big figure for a movie like NO COUNTRY (although its gross will surely rise with any Oscar noms), but certainly a big figure for a Pokemon movie and the first time that I know of in which a Pokemon movie made the top 100 for the year.

Among the movies it beat out were: CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR (although its take will rise in the weeks ahead), WE OWN THE NIGHT, THE NANNY DIARIES, WAR, THE INVASION and THE HILLS HAVE EYES II. Eat your heart out, Jet and Nicole, Pikachu rules! :P
