Sweet. Nice selection, split pretty evenly between wu xia and kung fu. Some horrors would have been nice though, but I guess they wouldn't sell like the martial arts titles.

You don't know how happy I am to FINALLY be able to say something.I was contacted by BCI to work on a Shaw Brothers project a year or so ago, and they told me to pick the titles and they would try to get them. Cliff Macmillan deserves major kudos for sticking with this so long and pulling out the goods. They came through and Shaw fans are going to be in for a treat with these! Good eye Terry, I did exactly that without trying. I only realized after I had narrowed the titles down to what you see that they were all down the middle so clearly in both camps. The horror releases were nearly all spoken for I'm sorry to say. Though I REALLY wish I could have gotten The Psychopath, Ho Meng Hwa's giallo, but I'm hoping I can convince someone else to take a chance on it. The goal is everything uncut, original language, and dubbed. HK Godfather was the toughest of the lot, and this will be the first release in the world on DVD. It's also easily one of the most violent action films put out by the Shaw Brothers. I'll try to be watching everything along the way to make sure it's uncut if possible, if anyone knows the film, it's been cut in every release prior.

Now who could have licensed the bulk of Shaw's horrors? Not DD (look at what they've licensed/released). Image has probably got two or three others, beyond what they've already announced. Media Blasters got one. BCI zip. Which suggests a new player. I'm guessing Starz/Anchor Bay is most likely, though ADV wouldn't be unreasonable either. I can't see Synapse or Mondo Macabre picking up the bulk, maybe a small smattering (one or two titles). The way Celestial's been licensing titles (10+ per company) makes this improbable I suppose.

Idle ruminations...
